Review Summary: an extremely fun record if you don't expect too much from it

For those of you who read this and were wondering if this was some sort of 'lost gem' from Oliveri's little known solo career, it is, but in a different way. For those of you wondering, Nick Oliveri is one of the more famous musicians of modern mainstream rock. He has performed with bands along the likes of Queens Of The Stone Age, Dwarves, Kyuss, Mondo Generator, amongst others.

With a reputation like that, some of you might be expecting this to be a gem of sorts, and it is.... of sorts. The first thing that must be aware of is that this doesn't have any original songs. It is instead is a compilation of covers, like already said in the summary, and while this is usually a bad thing, the album really benefits from Nick Oliveri's mere presence. Nick's energetic delivery coupled with his furious guitar playing make a formidable duo that will pummel through the likes of John Mayer.

The other main plus of Death Acoustic is the overall silliness, Nick is entirely aware of how stupid he looks when furiously playing songs along the likes of 'Dairy Queen', and this self-awareness really works to the album's benefit, as he never strays away from the sound that one should expect from an album with a title like 'Death Acoustic'.

Death Acoustic is a silly little release that is worth its while, but it's never something that should be taken seriously, and for what it is, it works very well.

Haven't heard this, but I heard his acoustic version of Green Machine, which was pretty good
