Excellent compilation of songs coming from reggae staples of the 1967-72 period. Actually, only the s/t track was written specifically for the album while just the half of it is written and performed by Jimmy Cliff who starred in the movie of the same name. Other notable artists included are The Maytals and Desmond Dekker.

A pretty solid collective of early reggae, compiling some of the greats who went unnoticed before reggae and the Wailers blew up. While Jimmy Cliff is responsible for the record, it's important to note that this is a soundtrack album to the film of the same name, and showcases many more artists than Cliff. The Maytals, Desmond Dekker, and the Melodians all contribute to the album with fantastic reggae songs.

A great sampling of Reggae before Bob Marly And The Wailers. There is not a bad song on this album, my only wish is that there was more here to listen to because it's that good.
