Review Summary: Goddamn cow slapping christ! Furor Incarnatus is really heavy album! I can barely lift it and I'm trying my hardest here.

Everything you thought you knew about Feared is about to change, but you probably didn’t know anything about Feared in the first place, and that is exactly what is going to change. Furor Incarnatus is the album that will put Feared on the death metal map for the simple reason that it’s a damn good album. While Feared has been a solid band up this point, their third release (not counting the re-mastered version of the Self-titled album) Furor Incarnatus is truly a breakthrough for the band. It’s also a Swedish band that has been active since 2007 and this particular album a lot of great Swedish guest artists and band members.

Furor Incarnatus is a heavy, slow and melodic album with great bass, modern production and dark growling vocals. Heavy and modern are two words that sums up Furor quite well. For more old-school death metal fans, this album isn’t perhaps your first choice, but is definitely still worth a listen. Furor Incarnatus is hardly your standard death metal album to begin with. It’s more of a death version of Pantera, at least when it comes to a lot of the instrumental parts. The vocals, as mentioned, consists mostly of deep growls, but occasionally deviates higher to grunts while never exceeding that point to full out screams. Furor Incarnatus has its fair share of clean vocals, but they are not too fantastic or original in anyway. The drums slam extremely hard on your eardrums in the most satisfying of ways, the bass is very audible and the tuned downed guitar is just outstanding. When I write that Furor Incarnatus is heavy I do of course mean it, but really…this album is really damn HEAVY. Feared has obviously got most of their inspiration from bands like Fear Factory and various Swedish melodic-death metal bands.

Scar Symmetrys guitarist Per plays some of the solos on this album. The most noteworthy solo is located on the second song called Breathing Failure. This solo just screams the good old Scar Symmetry days which is for at least me quite the nostalgia. A guy called Ola Englund is at the moment full time guitarist in Feared and is doing a fantastic job. He is also a part of Six Feet Under these days and is pretty much the reason why SFU hasn’t sucked total ass lately. Some standout tracks are Breathing Failure, Live in you and Satan despite the weird clean vocals.

It's not great, it's basically Ola doing Ola things as usual and some rather tepid prog-core influences are occasionally present but it's solid. Ola's leads are good.
