Review Summary: blessthefall comes back after a two year break to show what they are capable of. To say the least, it's a huge step from the earlier album, His Last Walk.

blessthefall consists of:
Beau Bokan - Lead vocalist
Jared Warth - Bass/Screamed Vocals
Matt Traynor - Drummer
Eric Lambert - Guitarist
Michael Frisby - Guitarist

Blessthefall was born in the state of Arizona in the year of 2004. They released their debut album in 2007, entitled, His Last Walk. Later that year, their current vocalist Craig Mabbitt decided he needed to leave the band to spend time with his family, away from the music business. Blessthefall was in mid-tour, which forced them to cover the vocals themselves. Mabbitt later decided to come back, but blessthefall did not accept him. Almost an entire year later, they found what they were looking for in singer Beau Bokan.

The album beings with the intro track entitled, 2.0. A mediocre breakdown at best, but displays the message of the song. Blessthefall is back and ready to bring it. Next, a highlight of the album arrives. What’s Left of Me shows all that blessthefall is capable of and more. Guitarists Lambert and Frisby shred their riffs throughout the song, Traynor’s drumming is at the top of his game, and the singing of Warth and Bokan shine. To Hell and Back, the next song on the record, brings these same qualities.

Hey Baby, Here’s That Song You Wanted is the best song off the record. The vocal and guitar work on this song are simply amazing. Nowhere in this album will you see all five parts of blessthefall at this kind of level. If only the whole album was as magnificent as this song; however, the screamed vocals are missing from this song.

The latter half of the album, while not quite as good at the first tracks, is still a very good listen. Highlights of the second half include We’ll Sleep When Were Dead, You Deserve Nothing and I Hope You Get Less, and Stay Still.

Despite, some of the harsh moments in mediocre breakdowns and screamed vocals, blessthefall put out a consistently good album, which is arguably better than their debut. Blessthefall set out to release this new album, silence any haters on the new blessthefall(2.0), and continue what they love to do…play music.

"Witness" doesn't break any new ground, but is a solid release from a 2 year hiatus. It has somethin...

Good first review, you. Nice to see you contributing more than just news!

I think 4.5 is a little high for what you said in the review though. I should have a review up by tonight and we can have some conflicting opinions, haha.

It's generic metalcore at it's finest.

would you rather listen to this, or some good old fashioned Attack Attack!, I'd say that these guys stepped it up and basically took Blessthefall Back from craig mabbits clearly unworthy hands, and created a different (for them) sound.
