The Best Point In The Album
Now, on to the cd. Keep in mind that this is a greatest hits album and it truly gives the
best of Sabbath. The first track is titled
Black Sabbath and it's filled with creepy noises and a man screaming in the rain. This is a really cool intro and this track leads into
The Wizard which is one of my all time favorite Sabbath songs. It has a really cool bass line that supports the cool riff. After The Wizard, the cd turns in to the Black Sabbath song that everyone knows and loves.
Paranoid! The masterpiece that won't die. Through radio it will live on forever, well, in Florida they play it all the time. This is probably the band's most famous song. Now, next song is
War Pigs. This song is a 7 minute romp of hard rock and amazing lyrics. It's funny because my friend is always singing this when he's at my house.
The only one to challenge that hierchy of Paranoid, is the next song on the album.
Iron Man comes up next. This is probably the next most famous song by the band. The classic riff on guitar is here and will never be forgotten. Also the lyrics will remain as a highlight of the band's. These tracks are huge high points if the album. The next three aren't my favorite.
The Ehh... Point Of The Album
This is where
Tomorrow's Dream, Fairies Wear Boots, and Changes come in.. I really never liked this portion of the album. Fairies Wear Boots is good but I'm not really a fan of the others. Tomorrow's Dream is lazy and sounds like filler (yes, filler on a greatest hits album). Also Changes sounds like the band decided to get experimental with this song as it is slooow and is irrelevant to the subject matter of any other Sabbath song. All of these songs are good but not for a greatest hits album. When I say they are "Ehh" I mean that there is much better to hear on this album.
The Diverse, Great Portion Of The Album
This is where the album picks up again. I love the next couple song that come up here on this collection.
Sweet Leaf, Children Of The Grave, and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath are the next fab-three in my opinion. Hey, it's my three favorite Sabbath songs in a row. These tracks in my opinion are the best on the album, mainly because the other tracks are ridiculously overplayed. These songs really display the best talent of the band in my opinion. Anyway, the next three, and the last three tracks are,
Am I Going Insane, Snowblind, and N.I.B.. NIB is also a favorite of mine. I was never a big fan of Snowblind and Am I Going Insane is really just the generic song formula that every band uses. Overall this is a pretty good section of the album.
Conclusion
In conclusion, this is a great addition to any Sabbath fan's collection. It has all of the standout tracks that I grew up with. Though I wish they could have somehow fit Hand Of Doom or Electric Funeral on there. If they did that, this album would be my #1 favorite of all time. Overall score would have to be a
10/10.
