I think the backlash against solo bass is for exactly that reason. People realising the actual role of the bass, and not trying to make it something it isn't.

Me, I couldn't give a rat's ass. I sound shit on my own OR with a band.

What have I been up to? Well, I was working solid with my previous band for a few years when I tailed off the forums. Then I parted with them and moved to China to play rock and get drunk for about a year and a few months... now, I'm in Vienna with plans to have my own school or make moves and Changes in the Scene here.

So what's with here? Who's still here from the old crew? What competitions are going on? What's the standard like now?

Hopefully I'll be back more often now I've got a 'real life' base here in Vienna.

You can check my stuff st http://www.myspace.com/ckplaysbass though it has been a long long time since I've been composing but I plan to change that soon!
i have no idea who you are because i don't play bass or frequent the bass forum, but nice tracks

Don't get me wrong I still enjoy playing the bass in a band scenario, I'm just not a massive fan of "solo" bass.

Occasionally I'll see something good, but more often than not it's some kid trying to play like VW and it sounds like a click track.

That track "YinYangMKII" is awesome

Yo man.

I lurk around on occasion, but don't see many of the older folks around, so I don't really post at all unless I'm drunk on wine and bored at home.

Good to get an update from you man. I'll be around, checking in. I'd like to see this place back on track like it was a few years back.

That may be asking quite a bit, Joe (2). I dont think that we'll ever see the forums flourish like they did before.

Man, I was just wondering the other day how you were doing. I forgot how good of a composer you are. Chilling to some songs that I remember from back in the day.

Ewww, I remember that. That was pretty gross.

I'm in a Latin Jazz Band at my university now. That stuff is not easy as one would think.

Things were good a few years back... though things change when you become an old man! hehe. That you can't change. The young ones are never as cool as you used to be!

Thinking I might do a coffeecamp in Vienna sometime next summer...?

Katana: yeah, I was an extra for the last episode of the first series. Was a great day working with the local comedians despite the pissing rain (yeah, you don't see it on camera)

Well, hopefully I can worm my way back into it here.

Damn, it's been a while. Glad to see you're still alive and whatnot. What's the music scene like in Vienna?
