I'll be seeing them again for sure in September if they are anywhere near me.
Wes has got to be friendly because he's got nothing else going for him--sucky guitarist, bad hair, not even a real part of the band, etc.

Wesley is the second guitarist or the keyboardist? (I'm assuming former)

We got about within 10 rows of the stage right before they came on, and we were standing in front of some short teenage couple, which was good.

I headbutted the girl by accident headbanging though.

I don't think they should play all of FOABP though. Definately open with the title track (which was cool), and keep WOOH and Sleep Together. Drop the other 3 for...I dunno what. Probably Arriving Somewhere and others.

Wes is the second guitarist. I would never talk trash about Richard (the keyboardist).

Yeah, Richard is a beast. Wes, on the other hand...

Eh, he's a decent vocalist, but man. Listening to him try to solo...just not happening. He has a lame guitar tone too, somehow.

Yeah his live tone was gay. A phaser? **** that

I thought he played well though. His solos were sloppy and uninspiring (Especially in the spot where Alex Lifeson cameo'd on Anesthesize) but overall, he definitely improves the live act.

at the idea of already dropping Anesthetize to put Arriving back in. You love that song too much...Anesthetize is going to be a live staple for a while, I think.

Yeah, I don't like the way Wes solos in live PT (although his one on Shesmovedon, the first time I saw them, was sick.) But aside from that he's great.

Yeah, I did not like that solo at all. Wilson should do more solos...

Jude, you did have a point though. Trains is probably the best closing song for them. As cool as Halo was, Trains would have been better for the last song.

Wes's soloing style is just generic rock. Wilson's are way more melodic and interesting, and emotive. Oh well.

And yeah, there's no legitimate reason why every Porcupine Tree from now till the end of their career should not end with Trains.

The problem is that those are the two best songs on the past two albums (with the possible exception of Way Out of Here on FOABP, but that would require Fripp). I wish they could play them both.

With all this talk of how awesome these guys are live I checked to see when they were coming near me, and they're coming this saturday!

Hopefully, I can still get some tickets!

EDIT: Hooha! Ticketmaster still shows there's tickets available. I'm going to have to get them soon though, just in case.

Way Out of Here doesn't require Fripp in any way.

i thought Halo was entirely great as a closer... better than Trains would have been.

Halo was great, but mainly because "I forgot the words can you ****ing believe it"

WOOH doesn't require Fripp; they're playing it on this tour. I'm guessing that after this tour My Ashes, Sentimental, and one other song - dunno which - will be dropped. Which is too bad, but they always do that.

OK, upload it for us. That's like the one PT recording I don't have, besides the track "Novak."

That's an awesome list. I prefer the studio Not Beautiful Any More over the Coma Divine version tbh.

Me too, because it's got the meat of it without the extra seven minutes of wank.

Right on. Will download when I get home.

I'll probably actually listen to it like once, cause it'll suck compared to later recordings, but it's cool to have.

They really need to start playing Linton Samuel Dawson live period. With Wilson inhaling a balloon beforehand.

Glass Arm Shattering is my favorite Porcupine Tree closer, there I said it...

It's better than Dark Matter, better than Stop Swimming and Feel So Low, and even just beats out Fadeaway...

Yup...

Porcupine Tree closers are always the songs that I don't like much at first but grow on me over time and become my favorites down the road. I loved both Dark Matter and Sleep Together right away, so they are the odd ones...

I'd rank them in this order:

Glass Arm Shattering
Fadeaway
Collapse the Light Into Earth
Stop Swimming
Feel So Low

All of these songs are in the upper echelon of Porcupine Tree's material, they are all wonderful...

Wow, I just realized that I enjoy Waiting Phase Two more then Phase One. Which is odd since at first I didn't even like phase two. Anyone feel the same way?
