I guess it was their 5th album, Reroute to Remain (2002–2003), when their originally started to... become influenced.

Edit: Listening to Clayman right now...... MUCH CLOSER to what I expected their evolution to sound like! Good stuff... kinda sounds like a mix between Reroute to Remain and Lunar Strain
