Birthday loadout!

Well i went ahead and spoiled myself for my birthday.

My baby got a few new things. Most notably, new heads. Aquarians all around.
Response2 clear over Classic Clear (black) toms
Superkick1 over ported Regulator bass
Classic Coated over Hi-Performance snare.

I haven't gotten the tuning to where I like 'em yet... but soon enough.
That was my b-day present from mom. I also got a half brick of vic firth 5AN's

My friend Caitlin, whose dad works at Ellis Drum Shop (a surprise to me...) got me a gift certificate, so i spent it on a zilbel and mount...

Some more pics...

Lastly, I bought some things for my PA setup. Most notably is the rack itself. It's a Gator rack, with 10U on top and 8U vertical in front. I have 1U vent coming in tomorrow for that last space there, as well as some sezzie new rack screws.

So yah! it's all good. maybe i'll get some audio up soon?

CombatWombat3 09-28-2005 08:05 PM

man, looks awesome David! That kit is really coming along.

actually, i'm replacing it. sooner the better... i'm sick of this little crummy kit.

I'll keep it though, i'll put it in my room with the mesh heads i have for it.

FL3P 09-28-2005 08:08 PM

thats a nice studio/ living room setup ya got there

rockindrummer 09-28-2005 08:14 PM

That is an awsome kit man. Those new heads look really good.

Massik Kretal 09-28-2005 08:18 PM

That kit looks great. How much is the Zil-Bell originally? What the size and characteristics of it?

bobby__johnny 09-28-2005 08:20 PM

youve done great with the kit though.

form looking at it, you'd think it was something worth a bit of money ;)

actually, i'd keep it for the small club kit.

sometimes, even a standard size kit is just too big

drummer172 09-28-2005 08:23 PM

I just had a birthday. Got new hats and a dbl bass pedal out of it. Good deal.

Chippy569 09-28-2005 08:34 PM

yeah bobby, i couldn't sell it. i'm definitely keeping it.

One of the things i noticed was that a lot of the hoops have gotten warped over the years of bad tuning. And a lot of the screws on the snare are loose and falling out... I'm just due for a new kit really.

The Zil-Bel is the 6.5" model, it sounds like a ride bell that sustains for days. I'll get audio for sure, sometime soonish. it cost $69 at Ellis.

Half Life 09-28-2005 09:09 PM

Man, that looks great! Top notch work. If only I didn't live 3 hours away, I'd come jam on it with you. Those Zilbels are sweet too. Nice buy

Plan B. 09-28-2005 09:11 PM

Oh man, beauty!

Tim 09-28-2005 09:12 PM

lucky bastid

(contacts in profile)

puppet.master 09-28-2005 09:32 PM

man i would kill for that setup

must kick *** having a big room to practice in and have everything setup in my kit takes up so much space in my room

Badkarma05 09-28-2005 09:37 PM

nice gear!! I wish stick companies would do bricks for any kind of stick.

Chippy569 09-28-2005 09:37 PM

Oh i forgot specs... minus heads there

Tama Stagestar. Love it, minus the snare and the 12" tom is too shallow.

Paiste
14" 402+ hats
20" signature heavy bell ride
18" signature power crash
18" signature full crash
10" 802+ splash
18" 502+ china
Sabian
16" AA El Sabor crash
Zildjian
6.5" Zil-Bel

Tama stands, gibraltar curved rack bars.... pacific **** 402 pedals.

theflame85 09-28-2005 09:56 PM

Great kit setup man!

I'm liking the rack system you use on the sides of your kit. Looks like a good way to save stand room. What model/brand of rack is that?

Chippy569 09-28-2005 10:15 PM

Gibraltar curved, they're both 40" bars IIRC.
no wait, ones 40" and one's 46". yeah. the bar on my left is longer, for the ride.

I aim to get 2 more for the double kick kit i'm getting.

Double Bass Jim 09-28-2005 10:23 PM

Very cool man!!! Looks excellent!

MXboy 09-28-2005 11:01 PM

nice big room. thats what i need..

poppinfresh 09-28-2005 11:15 PM

is the power crash lower, or higher in pitch compared to the full. I have a fast and full and the full is a bit high for me, just wondering where it stands.

I need to see a video of you playing with that ride over there, i wont believe it till i see it, i still cant even imagine it.

isojoe420 09-28-2005 11:19 PM

What kind of mics are you using?

Aaron 09-29-2005 05:17 AM

purdy setup.. i love your ride man, pure glass

DruMMeR_BoY14 09-29-2005 05:41 AM

At first I thought that Zil Bell was relaly weirdly placed... then I saw your ride and figured your a lefty... :D

Nice new stuff, your kits look quite professional (bar the 402 hats), are those sig crashes?

Chippy569 09-29-2005 02:21 PM

yeah they're sigs, and while the 402's are, well, 402's, i love their sound.

the mics are a Superlux mic pack. They're identical to the audix fusions minus the D-VICE clips or whatnot. They'll be up for sale sometime soon... i take care of 'em.

I donno about a video so much but i can get y'all audio monday assuming i don't have too much homework.

if you want an old video, try http://www.anewtomorrowmn.com/vids/ANTVid1.mpg

The difference in pitches between cymbals is more dependent on the individual cymbal. My powercrash is slightly lower than my full crash, but if you go try a bunch of 18" powers i'm sure you'll find some higher in pitch than others.
The difference with thickness of the cymbal is the sustain. The thicker cymbals ring a lot more.

Seafroggys 09-29-2005 02:23 PM

Where's the women?

osiecki 09-29-2005 02:32 PM

Good stuff, man! I like the setup a lot!

...I wish I could play open-handed...

gooood stuff.

Chippy569 09-29-2005 02:40 PM

seafroggys... they're absent in my film life. i'm not dating casey anymore, sorry.
