i have a gig in school, what should i play? :D

there's gonna be a fun fair in school in about 3 weeks time for fund raising and so, there's gonna be like gigs and stuff too

my band singed up to perform 3 songs :D :D

i was thinking something mainstream, but still rockin enough to bring the house down.

what do you guys recommend?

btw our band consists of me(guitarist/vocalist), another guitarist/backup vocals, a bassist and a drummer.

Guns and Roses man, all the way.

They are the ultimate mainstream rock band for mixed gigs, and if you play well enough, you may get some action afterwards...

December Flower

The Kreep 02-25-2005 06:44 AM

Guns n RosesAC/DC
Metallica

Any old mainstream rock music, really.

Fretboardninja 02-25-2005 06:50 AM

**** pushups

jen_wub 02-25-2005 07:05 AM

okay metallica it is
maybe 2 of the songs
and then 1 of em some kinda punk rock like blink 182 or something

any nice, not too over complicated, songs from metallica?

Kyle 02-25-2005 07:10 AM

well if you start at the new album and work back you will find metallica albums get more and more difficult  so depending how easy play some kind of monster or sad but true.
play blink if you want to impress girls, but not if you want to earn any sort of respect musically.

jen_wub 02-25-2005 07:17 AM

lol why is everyone so hostile towards punk rock? ???

i like punk rock....unfortunately blink 182 are POP-punk. If you want to play some PUNK rock play it right, and as you are going for the mainstream feel its a perfect time to play some sex pistols or the clash.

freeRATM9017 02-25-2005 07:22 AM

trust me you wont bring the house down

exactly no blink 182 songs are good enough to really stun an audience

 harsh.
Serously play pretty vacant by the sex pistols, or a bit of train in vain by the clash if you want to play punk.

Megadeth - Hangar 18

jen_wub 02-25-2005 07:39 AM

Po0sH 02-25-2005 07:40 AM

Oh, that's what our band did for a school show, it kicked ***.

jen_wub 02-25-2005 07:43 AM

you can hardly play fade to black? why are you even in a band?

Simon__Thats_All 02-25-2005 08:38 AM

If you want easy, do Dammit by Blink, especially if you're still learning the ropes of being in a band. It's all very basic, and recognisable too. *shrugs* Just a suggestion to help tighten up your band.

jen_wub 02-25-2005 08:52 AM

ya well its that last solo in fade to black but im still learning tho :o

i know there's lotsa pros in this forums so meh, you can laugh all you want at newbies like me :upset:

himynameistweek 02-25-2005 08:54 AM

play smells like teen spirit. high school kids love it. the same kids that the song makes fun of will be singing along.

Haze 02-25-2005 09:02 AM

Man, I've heard the worst covers of that song done by bands at our little local weekend "festival".

Awful, screechy, crud.

Kyle 02-25-2005 09:06 AM
you can hardly play fade to black? why are you even in a band?
thats not fair, being in a band is a vital part of progressing as a musician, the earlier you get involved with a band the better.
you can hardly play fade to black? why are you even in a band?
Im pretty sure Shakti doesnt know fade to black, and therefore cant play it, but hes still in a band
*automatically has eggo on side*

himynameistweek 02-25-2005 09:14 AM
punk rock like blink 182 or something

Frankenstrat 02-25-2005 09:17 AM

my band always closes with a blink 182 song theres nothing wrong with it. Blink 182's drummer is pretty good actually and my drummer wants to show off some of his chops so i let him go for it, i dont mind not playing something where im in the limelight if it sounds good or if my other band members want to get a peice of it

V_R_C_H_P 02-25-2005 09:40 AM

i fought the law by the clash thats simple but one hell of a song
