also got into the BTBAM thread

Tyler 03-30-2010 02:29 PM

Got it, thanks.

Ventriloquist 03-30-2010 06:25 PM

Can the psychedelic rock thread be merged with progressive rock thread? If prog rock thread doesn't exist can the title of the psychedelic thread be changed to Psychedelic/Prog rock maybe? Because there isn't much attention going to each genre and adding them to the industrial thread's title might create a black hole in mx. Thanks.

Tyler 03-30-2010 06:27 PM

I'm not sure there's a crossover between Psychedelic Rock and Prog Rock. Definitely none between either of the two and Industrial.

Ventriloquist 03-30-2010 06:31 PM

Well early prog has a lot of psychedelic influence and they have similarities in later stuff as well. I was just requesting it so that they can be discussed under the same topic, Neofolk and Power Electronics don't have that much in common either. Anyway, not that much of a problem. thanks anyway.

Tyler 03-30-2010 06:35 PM
Neofolk and Power Electronics
I whole heartedly agree. Were they merged, or something? Because that's amazingly stupid.

Ventriloquist 03-30-2010 06:43 PM

Well the thread title is like that for months now and it seems to be working fine. Otherwise the power electronics thread will be lost and I will get the 741 bytes exceeded! or whatever error when I search for it :p

Tyler 03-30-2010 06:45 PM

I guess the industrial/neo-folk artists tend to cross over but I still don't think they really intersect musically. Oh well, that's Meatplow's doing, I can't help you there.

Jaundice 03-30-2010 06:49 PM

Yeah I didn't see much logical purpose in neofolk and power electronics / harsh noise being merged

I'm not complaining about that thread title lol. Damn I should have posted while you were sleeping and Haz was here :p

They are all post-industrial subgenres.

Tyler 03-30-2010 08:38 PM

I fail to see how neo-folk is post-industrial.

Moon Flavor 03-30-2010 10:04 PM

Prog rock and psychedelic have a ton in common. See: Pink Floyd, Soft Machine, King Crimson, etc

Note that prog rock is not that spock's beard crap

Think about the genre labels for a second, it's a hint...

theres a dash in the middle?

Aaron 03-30-2010 10:08 PM

Protip: neo means new.

Meatplow 03-30-2010 10:17 PM
I fail to see how neo-folk is post-industrial.
Most people have a skewed perception of industrial in the first place so it's forgivable.

right ahead of you boys

Tyler 03-31-2010 08:45 PM

Moved it to the psych thread. If that's not where it should have been, well, it's closer than this thread. Remember: not a discussion thread.

Meatplow 03-31-2010 08:47 PM

damn you Coke I just logged in to verify the legitimacy of my request

Tyler 03-31-2010 08:47 PM

yeaaaah boyee

i closed the 'advertising' thread posted a page back, too lazy to ban this time so hopefully that'll do.

Plutonio 04-03-2010 05:49 PM

I don't know if this is the right thread, as this is my first post, but could one of the meds delete this review:

http://sputnikmusic.com/album.php?reviewid=35927

I want to rewrite it.

If that link doesn't work it's the 2.5 review for Worse Than Alone.

pate 04-03-2010 07:39 PM

Wrong thread and forum. Try the review site.

Aaron 04-05-2010 07:46 PM

Gotta say props for the move towards genre threads. It's nice not to have to wade through hundreds of 3/4 page long band-specific threads like the old days.

RouteOne 04-05-2010 07:46 PM

your avatar is so hard to look at Aaron lol

Jaundice 04-05-2010 09:45 PM

I find myself staring at it for minutes at a time. It's such a flawlessly uncomfortable image.
