dddddoug?

Whazzup?

Spaceman Spiff 04-29-2009 05:48 AM

I've always been one who didn't care too much about recording quality. I listen to low quality live and studio recordings all the time because the music is much more important to me than the quality.

Yeah i dont really have a preference, if it sounds good to me then whatever.

But i do enjoy 'honest' sounding recordings

lemoley 04-29-2009 08:34 AM

hey guys

fatbandit 04-29-2009 08:40 AM

I love Botch, but I can only really listen to We Are The Romans and An Anthology of Dead Ends, because the quality sucks too hard on the other releases they did.

FunkMetalBass 04-29-2009 09:06 AM

Sup, fatty?

fatbandit 04-29-2009 09:36 AM

Muh. My psoriasis is coming back pretty bad, so I'm just sulking over that a bit. It does suck pretty hard.

FunkMetalBass 04-29-2009 09:40 AM

That blows, man. Is there anything you can do to combat it? Vitamin supplements, things of that nature?

fatbandit 04-29-2009 09:46 AM

Nah mayte. I've got huge amounts of prescription shampoos, ointments, creams, unguents, herbal remedies, that kind of thing. None of them really do much. Just have to grin and bear it really.

Apparently there's this injection they can give you that clears up most cases of it. But only like 2% or something stupid like that of psoriasis sufferers are deemed severe enough cases to warrant it. And it costs like £10000 a year because it isn't NHS funded. Lame.

FunkMetalBass 04-29-2009 09:50 AM

That sucks, man. It'd be cheaper [and more hardcore \m/ (^_^) \m/ ] to get tattoos to cover it all up.

fatbandit 04-29-2009 09:55 AM

Hahaha, oh man, its illegal to tattoo skin affected by it o_O

FunkMetalBass 04-29-2009 10:33 AM

Really? It's not illegal in the U.S. to my knowledge, but it can cause more and larger patches of psoriasis breakouts (whotever exactly the term is for it, I'm not hip and up to date).

FunkMetalBass 04-29-2009 10:36 AM

As a part of my nutrition & exercise plan, I'm trying this thing where I don't overeat, so I'm only taking one bit of my food every 5-10 minutes. Now my steak is cold. :upset:

I didn't think about that before I started. Damn.

fatbandit 04-29-2009 10:46 AM

Yeah, it can have that effect. There's a medical term, but I can't remember it. Also, if psoriasis comes up where you have had a tattoo, it causes permanent discolouration, basically rendering your tattoo an ugly waste of money. Sucks.

no it isnt lol if you cant listen to it without it making your ears bleed then it defeats the point there is NO reason to be anti-high quality cept if you're trying to rationalize and justify your crappy band's recordings

he isn't being anti-high quality, he's being pro-music aesthetic quality. I'll always believe recording comes second to live performance. so im of the like mind as spiff

fatbandit 04-29-2009 12:33 PM

But if you're talking aesthetics, then live performances and recorded songs are such entirely different entities that you can't really judge one against the other.

There's a balance to be held. Its not like I won't listen to any music which falls below perfection in the recording stakes, but there is always a point where I can't listen to the music if it is badly recorded enough, no matter how good the song is.

Music has to sound good ALWAYS - studio and live.

Speaking of which, Raayl, do you plan to play out ever?

there is no perfection im not talking about being as good as possible im talking about not listening to a recording where the vocals are +20 dB and have the gain boosted to peak in the 16000hz range its going to make my god damn ears bleed and im sorry but recording well is part of making a good song if it isnt recorded well it lacks in a major area of being a musician and thus the overall song goes down

content = A+, right? Recording = F? well, that makes it a C

congrats

Epidemechanical 04-29-2009 12:46 PM

also this has nothing to do with an argument between spiff and myself

spiff is angry at me cause i told him his band sucks so hes going to be the devil's advocate of every opinion i have cause hes not emotionally secure yet

edit: to gattsu or whatever your dumb name is
