Zing! |
I actually quite like my Xbox. In the 3 hours of gaming that I do per year, it suits my needs just fine.

Worth getting? I could use a new game to amuse myself. |

That's about the limit of its powers right there. |
I've never had a problem with my 360, most comfortable controller I've ever used.. Not a huge playstation fan, never have been.
In other news should be getting about 2grand back from insurance. Time to start shopping... |

The removal of the white/black buttons and addition of a right/left bumper was a good idea, though. What are you in the market for? Have the police found any leads on your instruments? |
Haha I hated the black and white buttons for some reason, the bumpers are much more useful. Thanks for that idea Sony
I plan on going used, most likely an American Jazz of some variety first, then save up a little and get a nice five string. No word on mine yet though |
Really loving this right now

I like Koa. I really like Walnut tops.

Hell yeah, a guy is coming over in a little bit to check out my rack mixer and hopefully buy it.

Tried everything first. Wouldn't do this if it wasn't a last resort :(

Done that already! Everything's cool now though, cuz I do backups. What a champ. |
Also, as far as USB interfaces go, my Tascam is pure dog shit. How's the Native Instruments Audio Kontrol 1 stack up? Seen one going for about £90, and I'm tempted to pick it up.
|
Ooh, or a Focusrite Saffire 6. That's like £20 more, but it looks pretty sweet too.
|
What sucks about the Tascam? I'm in the market for a USB or Firewire interface, and preferably one without an internal preamp.
|
Get something from the Echo Range.
I got the Echo Audiofire 8 for a interface to use with my Rosetta 200 and it's pretty good for what I paid. If you're on Mac there is nothing better than an Apogee Duet. |

http://www.echoaudio.com//Products/FireWire/AudioFire2/index.php Or this if you want preamps. http://www.echoaudio.com//Products/FireWire/AudioFire4/index.php It's got SPDIF on it too so you can use an external converter or a preamp with with A/D Conversion built in. |
I've got a Tascam US-144 or some such, sweet for my needs.
I'm buying some Audio Technica M50s soon, fucking pumped :D. |
The Tascam US-122 reboots the computer if it is left plugged in, but the computer goes idle. So every 20 minutes basically. And while it's left plugged in, you can't switch the computer off, it just hangs on the 'Windows is shutting down' screen. That's not the end of the world, it would just be nice not to have to plug it in/unplug it every time I use the computer and want to have any sound. Now and then, it will give me a BSOD while I'm recording, though I think I've sorted that with different drivers. And it still gives slight pops and skips on audio playback inside a DAW. That's pretty much why it sucks. All these problems are well documented if you run a google search, and no fix is apparent :/
I'll look into the Echo stuff though Joel, although that Focusrite is looking pretty top dog for me at the moment from my limited research. And I'm also running a PC with no Firewire ports, so it's pretty much USB only for me. |
Swear I just found a solid chunk of plastic baked into the side of this loaf of bread.

In gear news, I sold my mixer and my old Gotoh tuners. Up next is the dual 15-band EQ and the OLP. I shimmed the neck of my Spector and replaced batteries last night - plays SO much better. I'm also going to finish soldering that FX loop today.
What should my next purchase be - cheap upright, or FMR compressor + audio interface? |
Depends more on how much time you have available for the upright.
I'd be cautious that an upright that is really cheap is probably a shitbox. |
Get the interface.
I just bought an Iron Ether Oxide. I'm not sure why :/ |
