What is your ecological footprint?
The ecological footprint is the amount of land required to sustain you. If the whole world lived like America, we'd need over 5 Earths to sustain that lifestyle. And it's said that we should bring the whole world up to American's level?
TOTAL FOOTPRINT 20 IN COMPARISON, THE AVERAGE ECOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT IN YOUR COUNTRY IS 24 ACRES PER PERSON. IF EVERYONE LIVED LIKE YOU, WE WOULD NEED 4.6 PLANETS. |
I'm guessing there's some sort of test which your forgot to link...?
|
Yeah =/
http://www.earthday.net/footprint/index.asp I had it pasted in but somehow removed it. |
Did that awhile ago... I recall that I "only" needed about 2.5 earths...
|
total footprint is 7.4
my country is 8.8 if everyone lived like me there would be 4.1 earths. |

I eat lots of meat and lots of processed food, but I walk a lot and use my bicycle. :) |
Mine's only so high because I eat a lot of meat. I rarely drive, but I am often a passenger. 90% of the time it's only to keep someone company, so that 90% of the time, I'm maybe reducing fuel efficiency by like 2%. And I have a big house.
|
4.2 for me. it would take 2.3 earths to sustain everyone with my life style :/
|
14 acres
Apparently, I'm below average. I need to start using more stuff |
that test is stupid. it acts as if i have 1 plant processing all of my food. it doesn't take into account that it's hard to grow vegetables for myself to eat when there's about an acre of grass in my whole city.

"it would take 4 planets for everyone to live like me"
No it doesn't. It just asks what is local and what isn't, which I think factors into gas consumption. |
wtf they called me fat
that test is stupid. it acts as if i have 1 plant processing all of my food. it doesn't take into account that it's hard to grow vegetables for myself to eat when there's about an acre of grass in my whole city.
It's not stupid. It isn't criticing you, it's drawing attention to our way of life. Western society is set up in such a way that our ecological footprints are huge. It isn't your fault, it's everyone's fault. |
Right not it'd take 4.8 Earths to keep everyone goin' like me. When school starts back up, I got it down to 1.7.
Hardcore! |
7.6 Ha. the Average for Australia is also 7.6.
I need 4.2 planets though. |
My total footprint is 9, my country's average being 24 acres per person.
If everyone lived like me, we would need two planets. |
Interesting

If Everyone Lived Like You, We Would Need 2.7 Planets.

I'll take responsibility for everyone in this thread. Don't feel guilty at all.
It's my fault. I'll solve it. Don't worry about a thing. Do not heed any hippy bull**** that comes your way. Chill :-] |
this is such stupid ****ing bull**** mother****ers.
the whole concept of needing extra planets is completely ****ing insane we've been using land progressively more and more intensively ever since we first figured out that seeds turn into plants dammit. IF EVERYONE LIVED LIKE YOU, WE WOULD NEED 4.8 PLANETS. would've been higher, but I decided to get a Forrester instead of the Land Rover haha after I move back home I'll be up to 30. would've been 33 with the landrover. |
