I think 123 is as old as the internet. Or at least as old as message boards that have a 3 character minimum for posting.
Bahahahhaa.

Ah the good ole days. Back when MX was thriving with life. And reputation whoring.

karmapavementplan 07-06-2009 01:05 PM

Man, is it possible to get a little more activity on the boards? I like a nice quiet board, but this sometimes gets silly.

Sorry watching house so going awol for a bit.

BenJammin 07-06-2009 01:06 PM

Nah, man. This board is past it's heyday.

Mr. Jiggy Fly 07-06-2009 01:09 PM
Nah, man. This board is past it's heyday.
:(

It's true. Back in my day (lawl) the casuals would fill up ridiculously fast, and everyone knew eachother on a first name basis.

Isn't that right, Ben?

BenJammin 07-06-2009 01:19 PM

Yeah, it is, for sure. I remember refreshing the page and another one would have already filled up. But I guess that's the nature of these things. Without the forums being connected to MX Tabs, we lost basically all of the flow of new posters. The review site still tends to get a few new people in here, but not as many, and most don't stay.

karmapavementplan 07-06-2009 01:38 PM

Reminds me of the dead flag blues. God speed you black emperor should reform and totally sample this thread.

Also, no points for getting his name. It's just plain obvious.

Goddamn they're good.

karmapavementplan 07-06-2009 01:53 PM

have you listened to any "a silver mt. zion"? It's basically godspeed but with a little more cohesive thread through the tracks and kinda conner oberst style vocals sometimes. Just as good as godspeed though

I don't think Efrim sounds anything like Connor, but yeah, I've listened to a couple of their albums. Some of it is better than others. I really like the moody "we're all fucked" sound of Godspeed more.

karmapavementplan 07-06-2009 02:04 PM

Do you not think godbless our dead marines makes him sound a lot like conner at least for that track?

karmapavementplan 07-06-2009 03:01 PM

It's been like 2 hours since someone posted on this forum, and that was me. We need like a recruitment drive. Lets organise an infomecial.

edit - just realised that this is posting one GMT wintertime. So it's only 1 hour since last post.
Hello friends!

So, I come to MX with a quick question:

I am considering trading my Modulus Flea 5 (my only fretted bass) for a 1967 Guild Starfire hollowbody. What do you guys think?
Not a fan of the hollowbody type basses, but for a 1967 bass in good condition with a decent tone, it sounds like a solid investment, especially if you can afford a cheapy $300 5-string to replace the Modulus (if you're in a situation that requires you have a bass, ie. band).

That was my thought! The Mod won't increase in value as far as I know, the Starfires get more expensive every year. And it just got refretted, so it's in fine playing shape.

In other news, I just scored an Ampeg BR2 and Ampeg Classic 410 cab for $350. Niiiice.

m-dirnt_fan101 07-06-2009 06:59 PM

I wish I was in the market for an amp rig...still havent needed to upgrade:(

Andrew,

I cordially ask that upon receipt of this post you immediately retract your statement for the following reasons:

- Nas is gay

Please have this completed no later than July 8th, 2009 at 9pm PST.

I thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Sincererly yours,

Dave

FunkMetalBass 07-06-2009 11:48 PM

Dave,

As Andrew's legal counsel, I'm afraid it is not in his best interest to retract his former statement. It is a well-known fact that Nas is not gay, but Kanye West is. Proof:

- Kanye likes fishsticks.

Public accusations as such can lead to tedious periods of litigation and law suits for slander and libel.

Thank you for voicing your concerns, however, Mr. Andrew and I must formally decline your request.

Regards,

Joe

File some dust off of the edges, collect it, get some superglue, combine, then rebuild and repair from there. I have a bass that had that done to it, still holding strong 5ish years later.

Refer any other questions to my lawyer.

surprisingly fun jam - the ocean.

Efrim 07-07-2009 08:41 AM

Damned bad sectors in my harddrive. I think I'm going to put Linux on my new one.
Damned bad sectors in my harddrive. I think I'm going to put Linux on my new one.
That's what I did. I'm running Debian/Gnome.

Efrim 07-07-2009 09:05 AM

I think I'm going to do Zenwalk.

On another note:
A python just slithered into my kitchen. I put him in a glass cupboard. Today is a strange day.

BenJammin 07-07-2009 09:18 AM

There are pythons in Alberta?

/crosses AB off of lists of places to visit

Efrim 07-07-2009 09:21 AM

Well....no, there aren't.
ever.
That's what makes it hard to wrap my head around.

BenJammin 07-07-2009 09:27 AM

You should sell it on the black market.

Efrim 07-07-2009 09:38 AM

I'm more concerned with its existence right now.
I'm hoping one of my room mates will come home to confirm that I'm not crazy.

Efrim 07-07-2009 09:55 AM

Maybe I should set it loose on the neighbourhood cats.

This.

Efrim 07-07-2009 09:58 AM

Or practice voodoo with it. I'm sure there is something funky I can do with a snake.

FunkMetalBass 07-07-2009 09:58 AM

So, we're going to have an all-acoustic practice today and then a serious band meeting about attendance issues and other things of that nature.

My old band once had a serious meeting about attendance issues and other things like that.

We ended up skateboarding and playing duck hunt. And by "we" I mean me and the drummer cuz the rest of the band never showed up.

Ours will be a little bit more serious than that. And if somebody misses practice/meeting today, said member is out of the band. No exceptions.

BenJammin 07-07-2009 01:07 PM

Another H&S song coming up. Jeremy laid vocals down on one of my tracks.

Jody LeCompte 07-07-2009 03:42 PM
Another H&S song coming up. Jeremy laid vocals down on one of my tracks.
Way better than Song For Strangers. I don't really dig the autotune/vocoder that's used on all the vocals you guys do, though. I thought that middle section seemed to drag on a bit long, but that was just a first impression.

FunkMetalBass 07-07-2009 04:04 PM

Holy sh*t, you're still alive?

What's up, Jody?
