Modern Rock

It just occurred to me that there is no thread for just straight, dare I say "mainstream" rock. Yes, we all love metal, hardcore, etc., but I know I'm not the only one who still listens to just straight rock bands....

****, I still listen to:

Nickelback
Seether
Cold
Staind
Breaking Benjamin
Tantric
Days of the New
Matchbox Twenty

Etc. Feel free to discuss and add to the list.

And no negativity ITT please. :smash:

Dr. Jake Destructo 07-01-2007 04:17 PM

Oh god.

/refrains from complete negativity

Seether has some pretty cool songs, The Remedy mostly. Breaking Benjamin have their moments, but their stupid major-key choruses basically ruin any decency they would otherwise have. So Cold is allright though.

Tool is good.

Eliminator 07-01-2007 04:19 PM

lol

AlienEater 07-01-2007 04:47 PM

yes, lol

Nepenthe 07-01-2007 04:54 PM

Actually I listen to alot of straightfoward modern rock bands, but none of the **** you listed.

TojesDolan 07-01-2007 05:12 PM

Seether has it's moments.

Godsmack sucks harder and harder every album they release, except for the acoustic album they made, that was kinda cool.

And uh... hmm... I like Maroon 5.

You like Maroon 5?

Come on now, you can't do any better than that?

Out with it, then.

I can have fun with a lot of these lousy radio rock bands. It's easy enough to listen to, and I don't despise it. But it's not great music by any means.

Nepenthe 07-01-2007 07:04 PM

The Glasspack
Jimbo Jones
Ninja Academy
Tight Bros From Way Back When

These are the kind of names that should be mentioned when talking about good modern rock.

And hell, I'd even take 30 Seconds To Mars or Bayside over anything in the first post. Except Seether, they are pretty good.

Kage 07-01-2007 07:05 PM

I haven't heard any of those.

Dimmu Burger 07-01-2007 07:10 PM

I still love me some old Incubus.

Nepenthe 07-01-2007 07:11 PM

New Incubus is pretty good too.

Dimmu Burger 07-01-2007 07:16 PM

Its not horrible but they are a different band now without Dirk.

Kage 07-01-2007 07:18 PM

I don't like the newest album, but I do really like everything before and including A Crow Left of the Murder.

this. I wish they would go back to their jazz-funk-rock phase again.

I also like :

Sparta
Foo Fighters
A Perfect Circle

Kage 07-01-2007 07:24 PM

Foo Fighters are awesome.

Nepenthe 07-01-2007 07:25 PM

Sparta is really awesome.

TojesDolan 07-01-2007 07:38 PM

At the drive in is better.

Nepenthe 07-01-2007 07:41 PM

Yeah, but Sparta is still really awesome.

bwnstl 07-01-2007 07:43 PM

I listen to a lot of Incubus. Muse is one of my top 5 favorite bands. Nine Inch Nails is a favorite as well. System of a Down, Coheed, Coldplay, Keane, Maroon 5, and Chevelle are some others that I listen to fairly frequently.

Dr. Jake Destructo 07-01-2007 07:56 PM

Crow is my favorite incubus album. System of a Down used to be a favorite of mine as well, I was a major sucker for their Armenian folk influence or whatever.

Meatplow 07-01-2007 07:56 PM

Scott Stapp!
Sparta is really awesome.
I'll be seeing them next month :D

Dr. Jake Destructo 07-01-2007 07:58 PM

Yeah, no kidding.

Oh ****, 25 posts in and no mention of RATM.

Nepenthe 07-01-2007 07:59 PM

****, and I was hoping there never would be any. Thanks Jake.

Angmar 07-01-2007 07:59 PM

RATM rules.

Dr. Jake Destructo 07-01-2007 08:00 PM

oh come on, Rage are basically gods compared to the rest of the stuff ITT

Kage 07-01-2007 08:00 PM

Nonsense.
