Recommendations if you please
sorry for posting this thread in the first place; i don't find the essentials thread all too useful.
can anyone recommend where forth i should venture with rap considering my tastes? i'm currently listening to a lot of public enemy, nwa, run dmc, some 2pac, ice cube. i cannot tolerate the dogshit album 'the chronic' by dr. dre. it sounds like a big sellout softcore load of shit. i generally cannot stand the soft songs on rap albums, nor can i stand the stuff you see on mtv, that 'rnb' crap. i only really enjoy violent rap songs, artists, that don't do any of the soft crap. anyway, enough rambling, please suggest ta! |

straight outta compton/n.w.a. in general is/are very highly overrated by suburban white people, and licensed to ill has terrible production and pretty much anything the beasties did after tops it they're pretty far from essential edit - and I second the Three 6 Mafia suggestion. |
straight outta compton/n.w.a. in general is/are very highly overrated by suburban white people, and licensed to ill has terrible production and pretty much anything the beasties did after tops it they're pretty far from essential
straight outta compton might have some crap tracks and stuff but it's still completely essential. |
nice illmitch :)

There's nothing on that list that is that good and certainly nothing like what he said he liked. Geto Boys, Onyx, Black Moon, 2 Live Crew, Coolio or random one hit wonders like Mad Cobra is my suggestion. Kenny Dope's Hip-Hop Forever samples disc has some quality stuff on it. His remixes are good too. |
yeah there is.
|
the fact that he didnt like anything at all off the chronic is a little disheartening though
