im looking for the melo-death thread but i cant get past page 2 on the threads index. how do i find a thread like this that hasn't been posted in for some time?

Nepenthe 01-08-2010 07:03 PM

melo death thread is on the first page its like the 8th one down right now

beans 01-08-2010 07:05 PM

haha well i wasnt looking hard enough it seems like. but the question still stands. since the search tool has been broken forever, how do we find threads that have moved off the main 2 pages?

Nepenthe 01-08-2010 07:11 PM

use the broken search tool

I'll add it to the thread index, if you guys can report any links that aren't in there but should be that would be much appreciated.

Regarding the search tool, it is incredibly inefficient and every second time I search for something it fails. So I would just use it as a "maybe" last resort after checking the thread index, maybe back a page or two, or even utilising google with the name of the thread and the website url if we can remember it in brackets (say the search entry, "melo-death" sputnikmusic.com/forums).

If a thread has been well buried in the past and nobody can easily find it I won't hold it against you if a new thread is made.

i cant decide which part to make fun of first

Meatplow 01-14-2010 08:07 AM

this person has the same IP address as DBlitz, who is one of the last people I would expect to make a terrible gimmick

Txus 01-14-2010 11:06 AM

I have a suggestion guys

big avatars.

Meatplow 01-14-2010 11:31 AM

It would be nice, as just about every forum I have ever posted on other than this one has had 150x150px avatar size limits at a bare minimum.

I believe Jeremy has some bandwidth concerns however, which is why we don't have a PM system either. It is his call whether to raise the limit or not.

haha

Txus 01-14-2010 11:38 AM

I don't post in any other forums but I have seen a bunch like you said with 150X150 size limit, which is nice.

And Jeremy doesn't really care about the forums tbh so it'll probably never change :(

Moon Flavor 01-14-2010 01:16 PM

I'd rather have urls automatically show up as urls again instead of having to manually write the tags in

like, why did that even get taken away

It's partly to do with bandwidth, partly to do with who cares? Jeremy is a pretty busy guy and he does still poke his head about, he just doesn't come into casual chats so people can bicker to him about god knows what.

Well, initially, it was stripped when we had all of the coded links leading to hacking, a few years ago, when Chad kind of went nuts on us. So it was taken away along with hidden links. I'm not really sure why it hasn't been reinstated though.
since the search tool has been broken forever, how do we find threads that have moved off the main 2 pages?
use google

"topic or sentence" site:http://www.sputnikmusic.com

I know not to what limits thy great powers extend, mighty moderators, but I humbly ask thee: hear my plea. If such a feat is within thy capability, could thou merge into one, my old account (Ceminon) and this one?

Tyler 02-03-2010 10:55 AM

Ask in here:
