|
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K5NNsXNTrow
ran into some unexpectedly awesome drone on the b side of the pygmy lush - bitter river cassette
dude september song is fucking sick |
I've not got into drone entirely however this band had impressed me
Paik - Corridors Paik - Orson Fader http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fsOmcnkwGcE |
yeah Paik's pretty good I think I whored them in the Post-rock thread last year. Been listening to a lot of Nadja lately. Was pretty impressed with their live performance.
|
Nadja and Aidan Baker's work in general is always a fine listen, been diggin Windy & Carl's newest lately here
|
Quickspace made some great drone-pop.
|
i have a quickspace album but havent given it a fair listen yet really, should change that
just heard Bedroom's Solipsist prob one of the better drone tapes ive heard from 2012 |
get on it blackface.
here's a fave. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NSWFGHgVZU |
think thats the album i got, yea this is sick shit reminds me of duster a lil bit
|
quickspace is great but i dont see their connectivity to drone
the gentlemen's butcher is some great chilling/sleeping drone |
could be my misinterpretation...they hover about a lo-fi aesthetic but it's the content and progression of their songs that I'd say is drone. Most songs only have a basic motif that gets layered with ornaments in an almost kraut-rock way.
|
i can see the throw-back to kraut-rock
lets settle on saying their 2nd cousins with drone |
certainly a band that's looking after their popular influences....I consider many types of musics as drawing into popular influence...its a dualistic system of experimentalism/abandon or cohesiveness/popular influence.
|
thread needs more posts
diggin a bunch of Root Strata related shit Rameses III - I Could Not Love You More Jon Porras - Undercurrent Evan Caminiti - Night Dust Ekin Fil - Language Jefre Cantu-Ledesma - Visiting This World Higuma - Pacific Fog Dreams |
