I come back here every once in a while.
It's a really too bad this place went downhill, it used to be such a thriving community. Kudos to those that still stick around, I just find it to be such a shame that some posts on the front page are from May, when the first 3 pages used to be riddled with posts from "Today".
I saw Myung and :amaze: do a couple threads about popping back in here, thought I'd do the same & give a shoutout to those who have been here from the beginning (my original User was Bass_guy33, got banned for some reason). The bass comps, the slap comps, the bass awards... Anyways. I don't actually play bass that much anymore, but I did a Mark King cover not too long ago out of boredom. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95a6tHrGSfU Scope it out if ya like. Cheers boys, all the best. |
I find it sad but wonder where most of the people went too... I will be with these forums until the day it dies for good. I don't post much in the bass forum anymore but I've been playing quite a bit this summer. I get spurty but I graduated college with a business management degree and Audio Recording Engineering. It's good to see you back.
|
Welcome back, even though I do not know you really!
I am a new user on this forum but it's been great. I will definitely help keep it alive! |
Weird, I also went to school for Audio Engineering. I now do FOH for some pretty big bands in Canada, and some in studio work.
Understanding In a Crash, what was your original username? |
This has always been my original username lol. Yeah I'm trying to do post-production for movie sound and also studio work for bands. I also enjoy doing live sound for venues as well.
|
i'm always lurking, but rarely find anything worth saying these days. i've gone through a lot of shit in my life since the winter, and haven't touched my bass for more than a few minutes at a time since February.
|
I remember both of you guys. Hopefully someday these forums can be ressurrected...
|
Holy crap, I haven't been here in forever. Just decided to browse this forum for the first time in a couple years and this thread was on the first page.
I definitely remember you, Bass_guy333. The bass comps were an absolute blast. These days I lurk/post at Talkbass. I occasionally take lessons with Adam Neely, who used to post here a ton. |
what's Adam up to these days?
|
I think he went to Berklee but am not positive. He's still rocking an Ibanez and seems to be doing quite well for himself. He's grown to be a very, very expressive player and has a great mix of technique, theory, and groove while playing. Definitely leaps and bounds above what he was doing in the early '00s when we were all hanging around here.
I have to confess that I spent the last hour reading my post history way back to 2004. I was a very, very dumb and naïve high school kid back in those days. I'd like to hope that I have matured in the time since MXtabs died and I am very sorry for all the posters who had to put up with my dumb brat self. |
i miss the old mxtabs.net, but I stop in about once a year
|
good to hear your making a living in the music industry in canada :thumb: i figured you would.
|
old school thread is old school
|
I am only posting so you can all have something to look at.
|
There's a lot of us still lurking around, just nothing really happening anymore
|
lol gav points
|
D00d, I wished I had more gav points. I only ever got 1. Sad days indeed.
|
Haha, yeah that's how log its actually been since i've even logged in to post, is Gav still on here, or even post on occasion?
|
no, I think Gav disappeared after his accidental almost-suicide and the subsequent ridiculing that followed it.

 Didn't he claim to have cut his wrist quite badly on a doorknob after tripping and falling into it? |
I thought it was a knife? I kind of missed that whole thing though! Anyone got the thread? I'm too lazy to search :p
|
What the hell was gav's username?
EDIT: Found the thread (by pure fucking luck) http://www.sputnikmusic.com/forums/showthread.php?t=492485  http://www.sputnikmusic.com/forums/showthread.php?t=492878 http://www.sputnikmusic.com/forums/showthread.php?t=493606 |
I seem to recall he accidentally slit his wrist trying to cut a bottle to make a bong.
|
Oh wow, i actually do remember that, just totally slipped my mind
|
I just realized I still remembered my password for this site... It's been almost 4 years :p

Dude, didn't I just see you over at TalkBass? |
Hey Bass_guy33! I definitely remember you.
I look around here every few months. |
Wow, Bass_guy. I haven't been here in a long time either, over a year I think. I am a regular poster on Talkbass, but I gradually fell away from posting here. What bands are you working with in Canada?
lowsound |
OH WOW! That is an old picture, that was taken the day I got my dreads and I haven't had them in over three years now.
lowsound |
I always wanted dreads.
|
You need hair, first.

I'm working on it. In a few years, I'll be awesome: |
This thread makes me feel old.
|
This is a sad, nostalgic thread. I used to come around here a lot but the last time was like a year ago.
I still play bass sometimes but can't say I'm getting any better at it. Now I spend more time taking photos, which is my new hobby and doesn't hurt my ears as much (suffering from tinnitus now) |
And why not....I should make my 5000th post in here.

Was it the bass playing that caused it, or just a very loud non-bass environment (like working on jet engines without hearing protection)? |
No idea....I do think it was playing too much with loud bands but I especially blame my ipod. Cranking up RHCP every morning while I jogged can't be good.
|
fuck this. post mario tabs.
|
I actually found bass_guy's mario tabs if anyone wants them. That is if I can now find them on my computer.
|
I have them on my external, but it's not plugged in right now. D:
