Ambient suggestions...
It's time for finals, I need some good stuff.
|
i would go eluvium- copia
even though its not ambient, its downtempo electronic and its quite good (id study to it) http://www.myspace.com/emancipator or maybe carbon based lifeforms or brian eno. I don't know the genre too well so thats about the extent I know |
Yeah Emancipator is sweet.

Hajsch - 1992

saltillo - ganglion

^ I can't recommend listening to Anechoic Chamber (which is free for download on the site) enough. Some of the most relaxing, atmospheric tunes released this year - listen to the streams at the very least. Also second that Saltillo recommendation. The Future Sound Of London - Lifeforms The Orb - U.F.Orb Also, these are more psy-ambient, but: Shulman - Soundscapes And Modern Tales Younger Brother - A Flock Of Bleeps Bluetech - Sines and Singularities Solar Fields - Extended |
Thanks guys.

Stars of the Lid make some of the most beautiful music in the world, so they are a must.
|
What album do you suggest?

Avec Laudanum and The Tired Sounds of Stars of the Lid are good ones to start on. I actually think that And Their Refinement of the Decline is the best but opinion on that one seems to be pretty mixed. |
brian eno never gets old
i would go eluvium- copia
I second, third, and fourth that. |
I second, third, and fourth that.
copia is cool, but some songs the melodies can be a bit fast and distracting, not slow and soothing. i still love it, but idk |
brian eno never gets old
:]
This is very true. How do people around here feel about Aphex Twin? Oh, and why hasn't anyone mentioned Sigur Rós? |
The Field's 'From Here We Go Sublime'? Seems ambient enough to me. I would study to that.
|
Thats minimal, but yea, its ok to study to.
|
Thread needs more Raison d'Etre, Desiderii Marginis, Atrium Carceri, Herbst9, and Jaaportit.
|
brian eno never gets old
:]
My Mom got hit on by Brian Eno after a lecture he gave on the science of sound at the perimeter institute. Classy. Also, Godspeed you! Black Emperor. |
sigur ros
explosions in the sky the album leaf
these are post rock. Ambient: Steve Roach (Structures from Silence), Brian Eno (Ambient 1), Eluvium (Copa), Stars of the Lid (Tired....), anything by Biosphere but especially Substrata or Cirque, Numena by Robert Rich |
Loscil - Plume
Bass Communion - I or II The Dead Texan -The Dead Texan |
Bass Communion - Molotov & Haze
Heavenly Music Corporation - Lunar Phase Boards of Canada - Campfire Headphase |
Cluster is a must.
|
raison d'etre is great, but most of his catalogue is extremely dark and depressing.
monster's ball is a good ambient sountrack. vidna obmana, steve roach, & robert rich are all good artists. and if you can find it, i recommend picking up jeff greinke's "cities in fog". |

|
I'd second anything by Tangerine Dream, so seconded ^.
and I'll add Benjamin Finger and August Hell. all of which can be downloaded for free from http://thatspunk.linustorvaldsfacts.com/#category8 :) edit: also I'm uploading 4volt's catalog, which will definitely impress you all. he's one of the very finest ambient/idm artists out there. |
