Test Icicles

Their debut CD is out tomorrow, got some really good songs on it, but i'm not entirely sure I like it a lot. Seems to be more bad songs than good at the moment, but with a few more listens that opinion may reverse.

Check out the song/video Circle Square Triangle on their myspace; www.myspace.com/testicicles

Daniel! 10-30-2005 05:56 PM

The music isn't very good but they have a cool name.

Daniel! 10-30-2005 05:57 PM
I'd be willing to debate that.
Bring it on.

Daniel! 10-30-2005 06:01 PM
The Test Icicles is a stupid and awkward name.
You win.

Zmev 10-30-2005 06:29 PM

Lame name, lamer music.

Electrocution 10-30-2005 06:38 PM

I read the name as "Ice Testicles." Dyslexia?

Dog 10-30-2005 07:26 PM

*Dsyelixa

p.s. you guys don't know what you're talking about. The name "Test Icicles" is really a good representation of the amazingly advanced maturaty level of these guys and their overall importance to music period.

p.p.s. just checked out their myspace and they're horrible.

Jack_500 11-01-2005 12:19 PM

comptonasseddy 11-01-2005 01:07 PM

I don't like them because the other members are white.

comptonasseddy 11-01-2005 01:22 PM

are you black? i am and proud.

Doctor D. 11-01-2005 01:51 PM
are you black? i am and proud.
Nope, just saying race doesn't really matter in a sarcastic tone.

gimp fest 11-01-2005 01:55 PM

race shouldn't matter, i am in two minds about this band. they say they are playing music they feel like playing, they also say they don't like their music. i think the latter is a downright lie, but i admire them for doing what they want and taking music somewhere new but i do think they are trying to cash in on a new gimmick

Interstate 11-01-2005 01:57 PM

I haven't checked into them yet, I've read a few articles on them but haven't checked them out, mainly because of their stupid name.

incubliss 11-01-2005 05:56 PM

What kind of name is Interstate.

:p

Yeah, crap name but check out the song Circle Square Triangle. Very good.

StandingStill 11-02-2005 03:55 AM

They are terrible live. Doesn't really work at all.

rubbishwithnames 11-02-2005 01:02 PM

They're playing in my town tonight and I can't be arsed to go see them.

They sound just like Bloc Party to me, just not as good. And I'm not even a Bloc Party fan..

And the name is truly awful.

Cirlce Square Tirangle/Dancing On Pegs = superb

Boa vs Python = dire

I can't decide if i'm willing to take a risk and buy the album, if it's alla s good as the first two it'll be kickass, if it's as bad as Boa it's gonna be rubbish...

incubliss 01-04-2006 07:04 PM

It's more Boa vs Python. It is really boring and just mostly terrible.

Circle Square Triangle is a diamond in the rough, it's so good compared to everything else. Snowball, What's Your Damage, Sharks, and All Your Need is Blood are the only other listeable tracks. It should've been an EP.

moderaterock222 01-05-2006 09:08 AM

they played a gig in liverpool recently and they got booed off the stage by fans of the arctic monkeys. they couldn't deal with it and just walked off half way during their set, not very rock'n'roll...

PaulR 01-05-2006 10:54 AM

I don't like them at all.

They just don't do it for me at all.

Holyed 01-05-2006 11:34 AM

They were bloody awesome when I saw them live at Reading then the ULU.

I like them quite a lot, although some of the songs get painful after time, and the cd recordings don't live up to live ones.

comptonasseddy 01-05-2006 03:08 PM

I think they are awesome, pushing the boundaries with this new breed of "synth rock" that everyone seems to be doing now-a-days. Theyre, influenced from everything, from slayer to beastie boys. Catch It! is a great song by them. I suggest you all pick up this album now!
I read the name as "Ice Testicles." Dyslexia?
I just read it quickly as "Testicles"

team_racket 01-05-2006 03:18 PM

personally i dont mind them. there a fun band with some catchy twisted songs. bit like a demented bloc party. my friend went to see them live though and he said they mimed over a cd backing track.

So, i got a copy of the album.

4 good tracks does not an album make.

Nah they don't, they have a drum backing track because they don't have a drummer but that's all.

The_Mint 01-05-2006 06:29 PM

They're pretty awful, ive met the "black guitarist" Dev through a friend when they supported Death From Above 1979 in liverpool and he said the band were close to a break up, then lo and behold i found them playing at Leeds Festival and they were equally awful there too.

They got booed when they supported DFA'79, which was fair because they just seemed to flail around alot while nearly knocking everyone by the stage in the head with their guitars.

They play all the drum backing tracks through an ipod. You learn something new every day.

the pope. 01-06-2006 10:26 PM

ive had the album for a while now
i love them

i dunno how you couldnt, since they mix alot of music together
but opinions are opinions i guess

comptonasseddy 01-07-2006 08:57 AM

Does anyone know if they play their basslines through an ipod as well, seeing as they dont have a live bassist and all. For fans of test icicles check out the live version of "circle, square, triangle" on the domino records website, featuring a guest rapper mc lair or something like that.

cicatriz 01-07-2006 09:30 AM

I feel embarassed to be from the same country as these.

Catch it is such a quality song.

StandingStill 01-24-2006 08:39 PM

Sorry for bringing back this thread, but I thought I'd let you know this band will be splitting up very soon and the reasons for it are fairly hilarious.

BillCosby 01-24-2006 08:59 PM

and they are...

#less 01-25-2006 12:44 AM

"test icicles". Hey, that sounds like testicles! These guys are just Toooooooooooo funny!
