Worst band of 2005

Has to be british whale the worst band EVER

Tomahawk 10-28-2005 05:45 AM

I haven't heard of them. :-(

Kyle 10-28-2005 05:47 AM

Isn't that Justin Hawkins solo project?

Tomahawk 10-28-2005 05:52 AM

Oh. If it is, then I have heard them. I liked his cover of that Sparks song.

Electrocution 10-28-2005 12:21 PM

I'm giving Best Band of 2005 to Black Eyed Peas, since "My Humps" is the best single of the year thus far.

Zmev 10-28-2005 01:02 PM

Bloc Party
The Bravery
Louie XIV

The_Passenger 10-28-2005 01:12 PM

The Kaiser Chiefs were/are pretty damn bad

Ganondorf 10-28-2005 01:24 PM

My Humps may be a bad song, but the video is awesome ;)
The Kaiser Chiefs were/are pretty damn bad
Seconded. One of the most overhyped bands of the past few years.

TheGhost 10-28-2005 01:36 PM

I agree on Black Eyed Peas. They're quite awful.

Sam 10-28-2005 01:46 PM
So far I'm giving it to Black Eyed Peas, since "My Humps" is the worst single of the year thus far.
When I first heard that song it scared me because I thought the world was ending.

YDload 10-28-2005 03:55 PM

In a world where Staind and Nickelback came out with new albums in the same year, it would be hard to choose any other band.

But I choose Aqueduct. They're really really boring and lack melody. The one thing you needed to be a silly indie rock/pop band was a hook and you lost it!

something vague 10-28-2005 04:01 PM

The Bravery
Black Eyed Peas
Kaiser Cheifs

Basically just too much to list.

Illmatic 10-28-2005 04:02 PM

The Mars Volta.

o noes i'm gonna git flamed.

YDload 10-28-2005 04:03 PM
Don't forget Trapt, Default and Sevendust.

Actually, go ahead and forget them. Everybody else did.
I don't know why, but in the realm of terrible categories of popular music, I tend to rate modern rock below everything else, including pop-punk, pop that thinks it's pop-punk, and garage-rock revival crap. Don't get me wrong though, it's all very very horrible!

something vague 10-28-2005 04:03 PM

Hawthorne Heights.

Ugh x 100.

Jacaranda 10-28-2005 04:04 PM

Kaiser Cheifs, I like "I Predict a Riot" but the rest of their songs are just plain annoying.

Ficus 10-28-2005 04:10 PM
In a world where Staind and Nickelback came out with new albums in the same year, it would be hard to choose any other band.
I just love the technicality of Nickelback though, and how every song they do sounds completely different...I hope one day to be half as amazing as they are.

Oh and the Bravery are terrible too.

peaveyrules 10-28-2005 04:14 PM

Word. Exactly.

That's what pisses me off about the genre "modern rock"--it's not modern at all. It's crap.

Daniel! 10-28-2005 04:20 PM

I agree with this statement.

Wanker 10-28-2005 04:24 PM
I agree with this statement.
"Modern" in terms of music should explore the modernist paradigm of order and impulse. I see none of that being shown by any of those jerks.

Daniel! 10-28-2005 04:30 PM

You tell 'em.

Scott Herren 10-28-2005 04:34 PM

insane clown posse wins this every year.

Sleeper 10-28-2005 04:42 PM

Hawthorne Heights

RetiredAt21 10-28-2005 04:47 PM

I'm gonna have to say:

Bloc Party
The Bravery

Modernism has been a dead movement for the past 50 years.

bubbledeath 10-28-2005 04:54 PM

Hawthorne Heights, definitely.

anotherlamenobody 10-28-2005 05:03 PM

Crossfade. All of my retarded redneck "friends" listen to them, and it's so obvious to see that this band engineered by a record label is precisely hitting its target audience. I don't even know if they came out with their album this year, but they're still around being dull as hell.

Paranoidd 10-28-2005 06:18 PM

Billy Talent, coincidentally the worst band of last year.

Otherwise I'm going with the Killers. Horrible, just horrible.

cobert 10-28-2005 07:41 PM

Radiohead. OH SNAP!!!!!!

But seriously, i dont listen to the radio much, so i dont know many of the bands on alternative radio. But Disturbed + Breaking Benjamin + every other band that sounds like them is just awful. And the killers/the bravery. The killers make it on the sole fact that they might have one of the worst band names ever.

Actually "The Killers" would be a good band name if it reflected on the attitude or style of the band at all. But it doesn't. Iron Maiden's second album reflected the word "Killers" in a far superior manner.

You make a valid point.

morrissey 10-28-2005 08:08 PM

I don't get all the Bloc Party nominations, they're quite decent.

The Bravery, probably.
I don't get all the Bloc Party nominations, they're quite decent.
What's this, a black guy from England? Well let me put down my copy of NME and whip my dick out cause this is the hottest item of the year!

PDWAB 10-28-2005 08:24 PM

I like too many of the bands in this thread to post in this forum, haha.

1.2.freakin'.3. Killers suck.

D1ck Cheney's D1ck 10-28-2005 08:51 PM

You guys got this worst band thing down.

I can see that i'm not needed here.

Scott Herren 10-28-2005 09:34 PM

there is nothing wrong with the killers. you guys are getting too caught up in making sure to name drop groups like the killers and bravery because you lose indie cred for liking them. there are far worse groups. case in point, insane clown posse.

YDload 10-28-2005 09:38 PM

Nobody is more concerned about indie cred than I.
