Alt rock guitarist

Can anyone tell me of any alternative rock bands with really exeptional guitarists? Or songs with good guitar work/ guitar solos.

Word.

+ Dinosaur Jr

Edit: Speaking of Meat Puppets, I've just started to realize how much they kick ass. I got the 'Alive in the 90s' DVD for like 5 bux it's pretty cool. Got some nice Watt action on it.

I dunno if you count the whole "grunge" thing as alternative but it is often mentioned in this forum. If you do I guess Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden and Mudhoney have some good guitaring.

Dinosaur Jr seems the most obvious one people have said, Smashing Pumpkins also have some awesome lead play.

Depends On what you class as alternative but Muse and Arctic Monkeys are good for guitar I'd say

I never saw anything super special in Kevin Shields' guitar or anything. Just pounding chords and stuff (albeit awesome chords).

I wouldn't say I'm a fanboy, and I can say that if I want. Television eat scrote in my opinion, and you can go and do the same.

IHeartDisco 10-28-2005 06:52 AM

What are you saying, that grunge is worse than punk? What is this, genre fights now? I won't go into the genres, but don't go telling people that their music is worse than yours for no reason.

There is a reason that Television and other bands aren't widely known. I'll leave you to fill in the gaps.

Anyway, this is an alt guitar thread...

that's crazy.

Out of all the really well known grunge groups I would say pearl jam is one of the lest boring.

RollerQueen 10-28-2005 06:51 PM

Opinions are crazy, and you're a lunatic for having one.

Bukowski 10-28-2005 07:10 PM

Anyway, this is an alt guitar thread...
Anyone who is even moderately familiar with music outside of MTV knows who Television are. Marquee Moon is also ranked #128 on the Rolling Stone top albums of all time while no Pearl Jam album cracks the top 200. I'm sorry, either you haven't heard of them or you are just misinformed, but Television aren't underground.
