I tried to make a CD about two months ago with a bunch of Mitch Hedberg on it (for my sister) but sadly it did not work.

No that song sucks. They changed the bassline so the guitars are playing it instead, which really irks me as a bassist. And other than that, it's just too produced. Original long acronym song > smaller acronym song. |
I made this mix for a boy that I knew/had a crush on for his birthday a few months ago. And because it was such an amazing mix, we are now dating and all that jazz. :)The exact order is off, and I forgot some of the songs I put on there, but whatevz.
M83 - Caresses A Silver Mount Zion - 13 Angels Standing Guard Round Your Bed M83 - Run Into Flowers The Workhouse - Stoichov The Red Sparrowes - The Soundless Dawn Came Alive... Sigur Ros - Glosoli Engineers - Peter Street Mum - We Have a Map of the Piano Unwed Sailor - Ruby's Wishes Explosions in the Sky - Your Hand in Mine Explosions in the Sky - Six Days at the Bottom of the Ocean Efterklang - Foetus |
Mix #2 for my girlfriend, as made last night.
Queens of the Stone Age - "Feel Good Hit of the Summer" The Wrens - "Everyone Chooses Sides" The Promise Ring - "Why Did Ever We Meet?" The Wedding Present - "Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah" Spoon - "The Beast and Dragon, Adored" The Smiths - "Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want" Ozma - "Domino Effect" Mineral - "Gloria" The Postal Service - "Brand New Colony" Elliott Smith - "Say Yes" Damien Rice - "Cannonball" The Good Life - "Always A Bridesmaid" The Dismemberment Plan - "Gyroscope" The Decemberists - "Here I Dreamt I Was An Architect" Jimmy Eat World - "The Most Beautiful Things" Further Seems Forever - "Snowbirds and Townies" Rilo Kiley - "Spectacular Views" My Bloody Valentine - "Sometimes" Ben Gibbard - "Thriller" (acoustic Michael Jackson cover) Go Big Casino - "Power" (live acoustic) |
The Decemberists song you have on there, RollerQueen, is my favorite song of theirs. Last mix I made was for some exams I took and were in order by class block and subject. I forgot the track listing, however, I will search for it tomorrow.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention: I dunno if anyone else does this but the most full-proof way to make a great mix is to use tracks as they would come sequentially on their respective albums.
Ex: 1. Richard Hell and the Voidoids - Love Comes in Spurts 2. Pavement - Trigger Cut/Wounded Cut At :17 3. Harry Nilsson - Early In the Morning 4. Sam Cooke - Mean Old World etc... Alter formula as necessary. Guaranteed results. /double post |

Yep, that's it. Is that the top 10 favorite songs of the moment or whatever thread? Next six songs to the four I put up, the shift from punk stuffs to hip hop is almost seamless thanks to the innate funkiness of "#1 Hit Song". Don't believe me? Try out the songs for yerself... 5. Patti Smith - Kimberly 6. Minutemen - #1 Hit Song 7. Eric B. and Rakim - As the Rhyme Goes On 8. Quasimoto - Closer 9. Jeru the Damaja - Ain't the Devil Happy 10. Prefuse 73 - Gratis (Pedro vs. Prefuse) |
