Hello everyone,

Well I was doing some thinking a day or two ago and realized I only know maybe a handful of the users who post in this forum. Which is pretty sad. So I figured I'd make this thread where you could contact me and I could get to know you, via AIM, MSN, or YIM conversations. Also, I think a "suggestions" thread was something this forum needed. In this thread you can organize certain forum events (i.e. the Listening Parties), exchange contact information (user to user, you may use this to even exchange your music that you make on your own or in a band or press clippings/kits whatever), or simply to give your take on how this forum can improve.

How exactly do these listening parties work though?

You occasionally Instant Message me. It always seems to happen when I'm at someone else's house, though.

I'm guessing it's done in a chatroom over a Mic.

There needs to be more planning however inorder for them to work.

On the one I went to (mingus), we all hit play at the same time, and some people started spewing out random facts about obscure flute players and... yeah.

They aren't very organized though

That's the problem, a person needs to be appointed to run the entire thing. Granted they might not have all the music, but they should be the ones announcing what's going on to everyone.

You may use this thread as a Bulletin Board.

thats how it happens. play gets hit at the same time and then we discuss what were thinking while listening to it. it occasionally gets sidetracked but theyre quite interesting.

I'm probably not respected enough to be put in charge, but I have some webspace now to host the album if that's ok with everyone. It's faster than YSI on both ends, and I'm the only one who could ever delete it

Well as long as you have the means to conduct the event it doesn't matter if you're not respected enough.

Well If JonM or Zmev or someone wants to do it as well, then I think they deserve it more.

Plus, if I wanted to run it, It would mean I would have to go to the Metal one and sit through that ****

Ah I see, well they'll just have to start actually doing a better job getting that stuff together.

I haven't seen Jonm in the longest time so I guess I'll take over the listening parties.

As the polls indicated, for our next party we will be listening to [size=7]Meshuggah - I[/size].

I propose we have this party on [size=4]Friday at 6 EST (Pm. of course)[/size]. If anyone has any objections or suggested timeframes, feel free to post them or message me at Plateonthetable.

I was thinking maybe we can have an official "Alt/I Member Honor Roll". It'd be something we did every two or three months, so it'd be sort of like an Honor Roll thing. Though there can only be one winner for each period, that's the only catch to it. For prizes I was thinking just some simple things like an avatar resizing, maybe your user name would be in red or gold, and I don't know...some e-glory. Heh. Anyway, it might be something to look into if you'd all like to have a little fun with it.

It'd be easier just to have the whole package as the Grand Prize. Remember, it's still just in the early stages of possibly being created. I still need to talk to ol' Jim to see if he can help me out.
