OMG! Punk Forum Band!!! (Another stolen idea)
 

Let's see if we can make this work. I'm sure there's a lot of you guys who would find cool to cover a song with your forum mates over teh (oh so beloved) internet. So let's explain this idea, that usually gets nowhere, but that we'll be able to finish!

For those who don't know the thing goes like this:

1. We choose a song that we all (or a big part of us) like, and that seems easy enough to play.

2. When we have the song, we (probably me) decide which instruments we need.

3. People can apply to record an instrument, as long as they have a mic, and an amp or something decent enough to record it (major problem here is the drums, but I expect we'll find that). It usually will be this way drums -> guitar -> bass -> other instruments -> vocals, but maybe it won't work perfect this way so this can change.

4. Someone records, then uploads the track. Then another one records OVER the last track (not OVER the song because it won't work well), then uploads the mixed track or if he/she doesn't know how to mix uploads his track so someone else (probably me) can mix both.

5. Repeat the 4th step until the song is done.

6. Enjoy, and start again.

I also did a quick mix with Cool Edit and it sounds good, but I'll let whoever has been doing the mixing do the final stuff and wait for whoever is doing guitar.

You mixed in the vocals and it matches?

The vocals were good. But when i play the bass and drums it dosent work!

I think only some timing is off which could be fixed during mixing by extending a pause. It'd be easier with all 4 together.

It sounds like he says "Joe, shut the hell up!"

gracias. also, guy who did guitar, unless i'm terribly confused, there are two tracks, do you have them as separate recordings? it might be better to try mixing them into the whole thing separately.

I'd say i got the song tabbed about 80/85% right when I was with my bass teacher. I just need to get the order and maybe some changes.

What order does it need to be done in, drums - bass - guitar - vocals, or drums - guitar - bass - vocals?

Usually drums first, but since it starts on guitar.. I thought guitar first, but I already got the drums recorded. I just need to edit it and upload it.

Drums first is much better. We don't want another ska sucks.

ARGGG! My editing program is having technical difficulties.. It won't convert the final copy to mp3. I'm trying to find someway around it. :(

So albert, are you going to do suspect device on bass? I can't record anything, I don't even have a Microphone.

That's the drum track. Just edit out the time in the beginning and end when there's nothing there.

.aup. It's only for a certain editor, but I just uploaded the orginal mp3 file when first recorded so someone could do it for me.

Nick, this thread is working.

This thread is really screwing up for me, but I did finish cleaning it (to a point). So you can all get back to work on the band songs.

I suggest you only work on one song at a time. If the first page never works for me I'll upload and put current songs in this post.

I'd say the vocals could use quite a bit of work. It's easy for me to say that when I'm not the one singing though.

I can do a little bass if needed.

I have the drums recorded already, and I'm going to be doing the vocals. Anybody up for playing bass and guitar on it?
