Things

So I got some new stuff a while ago and decided to make a thread about it today because I'm bored. I won't bother telling you how much I love this stuff, because it's probably fairly obvious. Excuse the blurry pictures, I don't like my camera much and can't use it correctly.

5 pc. Tama SuperStar, wooo!

Really feeling the mounted floor tom.

Having two snares is so great, I never knew it would be so cool.

Don't know if I've posted this but I got a K Custom Dry Light ride for christmas, it's my favourite cymbal!

And finally, I went out and bought that HHX cymbal I wanted today. I even surprised myself there. (Traded in my old A Custom Flat ride, I had too many rides, hahaha)

Oh, and you can see that 16" AAX Chinense in some of those pictures too, which is also new.

Bored one day, plus I bought the wrong head and didn't realize until I put it on... I know, haha.

Thanks everyone.

ilikenoise 06-02-2005 08:48 AM

Those Superstars are really neat for the price. Seems like an odd layout to me, but whatever's good for you :thumb:

What's the snare, 14x7 or 8" Yamaha something or other?

Fuzzy 06-02-2005 08:51 AM

Your gear is brilliant! I'm happy for you :) Get some audio up, if possible.

Shu 06-02-2005 09:17 AM

wowwow.. nice gear bud, that looks hawt..

the setup kinda looks like theres some distance between all the toms an the hihat looks distant from the kick.. or is it just the pics?

GuerrillaTime 06-02-2005 11:17 AM

is there any special care needed for the dry series?

Queen Anne's Revenge 06-02-2005 01:35 PM
good to see you've been taken by HHX :thumb:
The force is strong in this one.

Hehehe....Star Wars.

sleepless 06-02-2005 01:40 PM

I love your kit...the finish. And that snare, what kind is it?

I'd Hit it 06-02-2005 04:02 PM

very cool man, nice equipment!

Plan B. 06-02-2005 09:11 PM

Thanks for all the comments.

The beater is an old Gibraltar one from my old Pearl pedal, haha. I love it though, I can't stand the Iron Cobra beaters, but I don't wanna spend the extra for my slave, just 'cuz I don't use her that often.

Snare is a Yamaha Maple Custom Absolute (14x6.5, I forget) not as deep as the pictures lead on. I think it's because the Tama snare is pretty shallow as well as the toms. It's tuned around medium tight with that thick ass head on WITH muffling ring.

I think the hi-hat is a little distant, but I've put it right up against the slave, which is at a comfortable distance. In the future I hope to get a cymbal mounting tom holder, and move both my rack toms over to the left more.

The ride cymbal is very independant, she needs not nothing to produce such a wonderful sound. I'll never clean her, even though she's terribly dirty. Rubbing your fingers on the surface will leave a dust/dirty grit on your finger tips. That's the way I like it.

twitch101 06-03-2005 12:29 AM

thats a nice finish on there
your small tom is a little to far away for my taste but wateva u like is cool

adamon 06-03-2005 10:25 AM

****DROOL**** i wanna try out a superstar so bad. i bet its like being in heaven. major props yo you man. HHX? AWESOME and that K ride must rule your life. i love it

trysthedrummer 06-03-2005 10:29 AM

I don't like K Dry rides. Nice pedal beaters!!! The superstar is one hell of a beast.

TTTSNB 06-03-2005 11:05 AM

Thats so nice man. Great cymbals, setup, everything. Only thing is.. Move that floor tom in man. It will be so much easier to play closer in.

K]o[L-666 12-19-2005 05:47 PM

nice kit man!!! how much did u paid???? im about ot buy a superstar but with three tom-tom 2 tom-flor and 2 bass tell me how it sounds?? do u think is a pro drumset???

Drum Phil 12-19-2005 06:01 PM
plus I bought the wrong head and didn't realize
I did that when i reheaded my floor tom. Now i have them on all my toms :)

osiecki 12-19-2005 06:26 PM

O M G

Hot ride. I want it just because of the way it looks!

Plan B. 12-19-2005 06:37 PM
I did that when i reheaded my floor tom. Now i have them on all my toms :)
Haha, you decided to get all the wrong head just from one mistake?!

Anyway, it's great, I love it. I paid just over $1000 CDN for it. It's a wonderful set, you can gig with it hard, you can record with it, but it's not like a pro drumset that you're afraid to bring to gigs with you or afraid to get scratched. However, if I were you I'd get the wrap instead of what I got (the laquer finish kinda thing) because it's much more prone to knicks and scractches if you plan on lugging it around a lot. Plus I think it's cheaper, buying again I definately would have gone for one of those sick wraps like the recent guys Blue 3D wrap which is gnar.

I'm actually thinking of getting rid of that ride, I love it to death but it just lacks the volume. If I could get that exact sound and say, "Pump it HARD with steriods" I'd be beyond content.

Drum Phil 12-19-2005 07:04 PM

No no. The point of the story was i fell in love with a new head because of a mistake :)

Der Meister 12-19-2005 07:08 PM

K customs and HHX, great minds think alike

Brokensticks 12-19-2005 07:29 PM

Great set man!

fullmetalhaallee 12-19-2005 07:51 PM

I really like that snare.
