does anybody still like bad brains?
Yes. I am one of them.
how come there are so few bad brains tabs?
Not a lot of people listen to Bad Brains enough to figure out their entire songs.
is it because their songs are easy to figure out?
No. Bad Brains have a lot of complicated guitar riffs.
or is it because people don't like bad brains?
Some don't.
are there any bad brains fans besides me?
Yes. I am one of them.

sketchyjoe 02-27-2005 05:54 PM

Bad Brains are my favourite homophobes.

SantaDuJuan 02-27-2005 05:57 PM

I enjoy them.

Pale-Folklore 02-27-2005 07:21 PM

They're one of my favourite punk or hardcore bands, considering i dont listen to punk or hardcore that much. and their reggae songs are great too!

SantaDuJuan 02-27-2005 07:25 PM

They make Dub songs.

I think.

I've never heard much Dub if any.

/me does research

your right black flag formed 2 years before bad brains.

El_Shiznit 02-27-2005 08:44 PM

Correct. Well, it's an easy misconception because Bad Brains was originally called Mind Power and they formed in 1977. But they were a jazz-fusion band until they changed their name.

Anxious 02-27-2005 08:51 PM
Correct. But they were a jazz-fusion band until they changed their name.
thats why they were the most talanted harcore band, instrumentaly.

Forest_Fire 02-27-2005 09:02 PM

Banned in DC, the comp?

Forest_Fire 02-27-2005 09:11 PM

yeah

El_Shiznit 02-27-2005 09:17 PM

That was my first Bad Brains. I think it picks the best versions, so it's good. But the S/T is a classic, and it has the awesome songs like "Don't Need It", "Leaving Babylon", and "Supertouch/Shi'tfit".

Happymeal 02-27-2005 09:17 PM

I listened to their live album, good stuff.

sketchyjoe 02-27-2005 09:18 PM

s/t is the best then Rock For Light.

El_Shiznit 02-27-2005 09:20 PM

I think that their second best release is Black Dots. It's a really cool album for fans of the band. It has some of their songs in the original versions, which are really cool, and slowed down. They have this groove vibe that is so cool. And you can hear all the little talk in the background of the recording session which is also very neat. Good stuff. I recommend. The version of "Don't Need It" on that release is really awesome.

sketchyjoe 02-27-2005 09:23 PM

The stuff I've heard of that is good but Rock For Light was my first BB album so I'll always have a soft spot for it. Youth Are Getting Restless is good too.

yes you could hear the bass. And theres a bass solo on big takeover.

Oh right.

They both hate gay people and they're both black.

I meant musically? They are both hardcore as I understand it...

Bad Brains were one of the founders of Hardcore. Teir sound evolved from punk.
Strike Anywhere's sound evolved from a sound that evolved from a sound that evolved from a sound that evolved from Bad Brains' sound.

80s hardcore is very different from the hardcore of today.

So what is post-hardcore then, if hardcore still exists today?

sketchyjoe 02-27-2005 10:42 PM

Post-Hardcore is stuff that evolved from hardcore in the same way that post-punk evolved from punk.
