Basically, you describe the sound your looking for, and the other members will try their best to find a cymbal to match.

look into Paiste Innovations and Sabian XS20. unfortunatly, dark and affordable dont often mix. as the pitch goes down, the price usually goes up.

What's a more versatile, controllable ride, 21" A Rock, or 22" A Ping? It needs to be useful in a variety of settings, but be strong enough to be heard over 2 guitars and a bass in a live setting.

21" Rock is more versatile. Neither of those will have volume issues.

the Rock wont be all stick definition. you'll have a bit of audible wash.

i need something bright and pingy with a nice sounding bell. Kind of between aa metal x and stagg myra. Not too washy. but versatile enough to be used in most styles.

It doesn't live up to it's reputation, but it's a decent ride. It's crashable, washy, and has a nice bell.

i play mostly rock and medal, some jazz, think that would be a good ride for me?

I love the sound of the sweet ride but its just way too much wash for what i need to use it for.

what is the sabian equivelent of A's?

It's one of the nicest ride i've ever heard in my life. It has a lot of "give" for a ride cymbal. Nice sounding crash. People said that the wash can overcome the ping sound, but that really depends on what stick you're using. I use Vinnie Colaiuta sticks and i can hear the ping nice and clear.

Hey there, I think 20" A Ping Ride would be more versatile than those 2 rides u mentioned above. Even though it's 20", it's till loud & can be heard in loud situations.

Also, just curious, r u mic'ing your kit live?

well i use pro mark 7A's. Ive tried this ride out like a bizillion times but im not sure if the wash would ruin the sound of the ping like on stage? Would the ping be able to be hurd as much as it should be?

Ok I got $150 from Christmas. I need a ride and or hi hats. I no I can only get one though. I am looking for good quality warm sounding hats. Somthing Bonham sounding. Or a nice ride that doesnt have to many overtones but just enough to crash on. Please help.

you an get this awsome cleener that takes everything off and it doesnt reaLLY CHANGE THE SOUND MUCH OF CORSE CHANGING THE SOUND LITTLE BIT IS INEVIDALE

Well for xmas I got a 16' A Custom Crash...regular.

I put it up and well, its to bright for my tastes. My other crash is a z custom medium. What do you guys recommend me to get instead of the 16' A custom? Preferably a zildjian in the a custom line...or something that is good for rock/punk music.

btw all my other cymbals are A Customs (a custom mastersound hats...a custom ping ride)

EDIT: I want a bright cymbal...but not tooo bright like that A Custom. Any K cymbals cuz those are SWEET :naughty:

whats a nice cheap crash that has a nice punch to it and has a nice big crash at the same time??? and is good for live gigs

You have Z Customs and your complaining about an A Custom 16" crash being too bright?

Look at some A's, maybe a medium thin or medium crash.

18" Sabian PRO Crash. (not the Sonix Model)

lol i know...but it just sounded wierd for some reason. even my mom was like ewww. didnt go at all with set. i'll look into the mediums. any more suggestions?

Hmm I have the same cymbal and its great. K's are darker than A's or A Customs, but sitll have a look at perhaps the K Custom Fast crashes.

if he has Z's in his setup, my guess is that any form of Fast crash is too thin for his playing.

Lookin' for some good hats to play metal or rock with. Sabian is my brand of choice, but Paiste is good too. I will settle for Zildjian if I can't find anything from the last two companies.

If you want a ride with not too many overtones go for aa metal x but you might get sick of the sound after a while
for warm sounding hats paiste innovations

Zildjian is just as good as Sabian or Paiste.

Good rock/metal hats:

Sabian AAX Metal-X Hats
Sabian AA Rock Hats
Zildjian A Rock Hats
Zildjian A Custom Projection Hats
Zildjian K/Z Dynobeats
Paiste Signature Sound-Edge Hihats

Most or all of these should be available in 13" or 14" sizes, even 15" if you're so inclined.

Definetly, Zildjian A custom 16" crash, they sound great, and sound better as they get older.
