The Beatles

Well, I saw the poll about the "best beatles album," and it got me thinking. We have all these threads about all sorts of great bands, but there's no thread just for talking about The Beatles. So, I decided to make one. Talk about The Beatles, their solo careers, anything to do with The Beatles in here. As a starter question, what are peoples preferences: Let it Be or Let it Be Naked? I personally prefer Naked, I think its more polished, and I think The Beatles were more of a studio band then live band.

BludgeonySteve 11-23-2004 08:49 PM

Hehe, awesome.

I'm always listening to my parent's Beatles records. They're practicaly mine now :D

Broken Arrow 11-23-2004 08:49 PM

I like Let it Be better.:)

I thought there used to be a Beatles thread.
Maybe not....good idead. :thumb:

DeusExMachina 11-23-2004 08:54 PM

I like Let It Be, but I think it was a little rough around the edges. The performance of Let It Be the song is amazing though. Love that solo. George is one seriously underrated guitarist.

BludgeonySteve 11-23-2004 08:57 PM

Let It Be is a very beautiful song :)

I agree people usually look right passed him.

IMO his is the most underated/looked/appreciated member og the Beatles.

*Random Fact:Ringo got the most fan mail out of any of the Beatles. :)

BludgeonySteve 11-23-2004 09:12 PM

That's because he lived the longest. And Paul has a boring name :p

DeusExMachina 11-23-2004 09:15 PM

George was definitely rad, and very underlooked. His solo career is really incredible, and songs like Here Comes the Sun and Something are just incredible.

AcidQueen 11-23-2004 09:16 PM
And Paul has a boring name :p
Are you kiddin' me? Any name that starts with Sir/Count/King is cool in my book.

DeusExMachina 11-23-2004 09:16 PM

Eh? I didn't know Paul McCartney was titled...

jpj 11-23-2004 09:17 PM
Eh? I didn't know Paul McCartney was titled...
He is, he's Sir Paul McCartney. It would be so cool to be knighted.

Stevie_P 11-23-2004 09:18 PM

yup he is, Sir Paul McCartney

BludgeonySteve 11-23-2004 09:18 PM
George was definitely rad, and very underlooked. His solo career is really incredible, and songs like Here Comes the Sun and Something are just incredible.
Agreed, he had the best Beatles solo career.

BludgeonySteve 11-23-2004 09:19 PM

Sir Paul McCartney vs. Ringo.

1 word>3. The way it goes.

DeusExMachina 11-23-2004 09:21 PM

Haha. ****. Sir Paul McCartney. thats rad.

jpj 11-23-2004 09:21 PM

No

Mean Mr. Mustard is such a cool song.

jpj 11-23-2004 09:29 PM

So know one likes The Beatles

DeusExMachina 11-23-2004 09:31 PM

Sad... no love for The Beatles thread. I have a question for everyone: what is up with Revoluion 9? Like, what is it? I've hear rumors that it says "turn me on dead man" backwards, but its more likely than not one of those coincidence things, seeing as I don't see how anyone could purposely put a backwards message in a song. Anyone know of any meaning to the song, or is it just random crap?

I've been holding that in for a month or two.

Settle down, I was just surprised there was such a lack of posts in a Beatles thread.

DeusExMachina 11-23-2004 09:38 PM

I'm Back in the USSR! Good song. I've always found The White Album a little eerie though.

gmoneyguy 11-23-2004 09:56 PM

Sad thing is the second disc always falls out of my rotation, but Sexie Sadie is awesome.

DeusExMachina 11-23-2004 09:56 PM

I really like Julia and Happiness is a Warm Gun.

Woodstock 11-23-2004 10:30 PM

I prefer every song off the White Album, it's all brilliance to me. Especially Mother Nature's Son and I'm So Tired.

Everything off Abbey Road is amazing. Ruber Soul, MMT, Revolver, I basically have 'em all.

Woodstock 11-23-2004 10:31 PM
I really like Julia and Happiness is a Warm Gun.
John was looking at a Gun magazine one day, and he say the phrase "Happiness is a Warm Gun" and he thought it was great.

Zeppelin's Riot 11-23-2004 10:50 PM

Across the Universe.

DeusExMachina 11-23-2004 11:00 PM

Hell yeah. I love that song.

s0ldsoul4roknrol 11-23-2004 11:18 PM

My dad and I watched a Beatles biography DVD the other night. It had some pretty interesting stuff and interviews on it.

"We're bigger than Jesus"

Woodstock 11-23-2004 11:32 PM

^Would happen to be the Anthology DVD set? Because I own it, and it's great.

gmoneyguy 11-23-2004 11:42 PM

I would buy but it like $80.

I need to find it used.

zed4321.pumpkin_pie 11-24-2004 12:36 AM

"Yesterday" was one of the first songs I learnt to play on guitar.

Hide your love away is a great song...

They are both good i wish they hadn't taken off Dig it and Maggie Mae.
But i love that version of Across the Universe

Yes I love it, Especially the bonus disk of them hanging out and playing together

Nickhurley 11-24-2004 09:38 AM

the sad thing to me is that people dont listen to them the beatles are my personal favorite band and im 16 so you got people with rap and all that hardcore crap and i got The Beatles another thing is i think people only think about "i wanna hold your hand" but if they gave "helter skelter" a listen they might think differently beatles are the best and Strawberry Fields Forever is the greatest song of all time

Nickhurley 11-24-2004 09:41 AM

Across The Universe has my favorite lyrics too.

And I think that In My Life was voted the best song ever written.

punkster998 11-24-2004 12:01 PM
