Tim Armstrong + Avril Lavigne Word has leaked out that the new single by teen rocker Avril Lavigne, "Don't Tell Me," contains a co-writing credit for Tim Armstrong of Rancid. After inquiring at Arista Records, we have learned that Armstrong has co-written a majority of Under My Skin, Lavigne's new album, alongside Avril herself. Lavigne's PR representative had this to say about the pairing: "Avril is very excited to be working with Tim Armstrong on her new record, Under My Skin. She is a huge fan of his work with Pink, and after finding out he wrote the song in the shampoo commercial thought that his rebellious, in-your-face attitude was perfect for her raucous style of punk rock. Songs like "How Does It Feel," "Nobody's Here," and her new hit single "Don't Tell Me" showcase Avril and Tim's undeniable chemistry and knack for telling the kids how it really is." Ms. Lavigne's new album is due out on May 25th. No word on when the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse are due to show up. Emery Video Tooth & Nail Records has posted a video for the Emery song "Walls," the first single off The Weak's End. Click here to download. (Right click> Save As) Awesome song, great video... Crazy Canadians... In some surprising news today, a Federal court rejected a motion from the CRIA (The Canadian equivalent of the RIAA) to sue Canadian file swappers. The judge ruled: "No evidence was presented that the alleged infringers either distributed or authorized the reproduction of sound recordings. They merely placed personal copies into their shared directories which were accessible by other computer users via a P2P service." He added "I cannot see a real difference between a library that places a photocopy machine in a room full of copyrighted material and a computer user that places a personal copy on a shared directory linked to a P2P service" He makes an good point. This is a pretty unheard of event, as the American RIAA has successfully attacked numerous file swappers and convinced the majority of them to settle out of court. However, keep in mind that Canadians currently pay some pretty harsh levies on recorded CD media, portable MP3 players and other devices that could be used to hold music. Grind Tour Bigwig will be headlining this year's Grind Tour, an annual Canadian trek that this year includes 15 shows from Vancouver to Montreal. A big fuck you to the FCC!
The FCC (who think they know what is good for America) have gone and banned old songs from radiowaves. Songs that contain no offensive content what-so-ever, one of which is Depeche Mode's classic "Personal Jesus." This is a complete violation of the separation of church and state, the song contains nothing offensive to anyone who is not Christian, and most Christians realize the song has nothing to do with Jesus himself, it's a metaphor. However, the religious and conservative groups that control this country don't give a fuck about any of that... their kids saw a tit (they sucked on them as infants, I think they can handle it) and so now they're going to tell us what is and isn't offensive to us. Fuck America... seriously. If you want to contact the FCC to remind that they're breaking the constitution and taking away your rights, please e-mail them at fccinfo@fcc.gov . Fugazi? Breaking up? Nah! This has been through the rumor mill countless times, but contrary to a flood of recent internet postings, Fugazi has not broken up. According to several sources Fugazi have actually been in talks with several labels the last months. They have finally landed a deal with the American Group for their next releases. American is part of Island / Def Jam and a member of the Universal Music Group. Label-founder Rick Rubin says: "I'm making a record with Fugazi, who we signed to American... I think they're a great live band - they have incredible stage presence. And we're helping making album that conveys as much as they have onstage on record. Which I don't think has been done before." Canada rocks! So in a big victory for the country and much to the disappointment of record labels everywhere, uploading and downloading MP3s is now legal in Canada. Check out the story HERE Another Sunny Day? Here is an exclusive audio stream from ex-Sunny Day Real Estate and current The Fire Theft front man Jeremy Enigk. It is from the soundtrack of the upcoming movie The United States Of Leland which opens Friday April 2nd (this Friday). The stream is exclusive because there is no soundtrack available anywhere, nor are there plans to release it. Lit Up Orange County rockers Lit have put the finishing touches on their forthcoming self-titled release slated for June 22. The first single “Looks Like They Were Right will ship to modern rock radio in early May. The first 100,000 units of Lit will include a free, limited edition DVD that features never-before-seen live footage and other exclusive material of the band. With well over 30 songs in the can, A.Jay, Jeremy, Kevin and Allen hit the road last October and asked their fans to help them pick which songs should make it on the new album. After narrowing the list to 13 tracks, some of the standout tracks that made it on Lit include the crunching “Needle and Thread with guitar work by Jon Devoto of The Matches, “Bulletproof and the tender ballad, “Lullaby which was written by guitarist Jeremy Popoff for his son Jake. Gabe McNair of No Doubt lends his keyboard talents to the track. Lit will perform at the Zoo Brew Stew show at the Zoo Amphitheater in Phoenix, AZ on April 23 and at Barracuda’s in Portland, OR on May 29. A full itinerary for their summer long nationwide tour will be announced shortly. Here’s the complete track listing for Lit. April Fools News posts
Don't be fooled by these news bulletins found on many other sites. Most aren't about punk, but whatever.
Kirk Hammett To Join G&R? As reported by AF website, Kirk Hammet thinking about joining Guns N' Roses to help them with "Chinese Democracy" album recording. AF representative was able to reach Kirk via phone and asked him to explain his decision. "I don't like what we did on our latest studio album, "St. Anger". To tell you the thruth, I am understand all those people which blaims us for the lack of solos in it. Yeah, I really do." - said Kirk Hammett of Metallica. "I wrote like fifty to sixty ten-minutes long solo riffs for that album. But Lars [Ulrich] said he is angry for me, because no one can hear his drum beats and enjoy them as much as my solos because my solos are too loud. Anyway, Axl made me a call a few weeks ago and asked me to join GN'R to help with "Chinese Democracy" recording." So, unsatisfaction was one of the main reason for his decision to quit from Metallica for a time. As we reported recently, Buckethead, GNR's latest solo guitarist, left the band (read "It's Official: Buckethead Left GN'R"), so this spot is free for now. The eccentric musician, who wears a fried-chicken bucket on his noggin and talks only through a hand puppet, has walked out before but has always returned to the fold. This time, however, it looks permanent. At the end of last year, Buckethead became fed up with Guns' inability to complete an album or tour and stopped working with them, his manager said. No official statement have been made yet, but Kirk looks very positive to joining Guns N' Roses. Probably "Chinese Democracy" will see a daylight soon. Who knows if it will be as good as "Use Your Illusion" or "Black Album". Now it's a matter of a time. Black Sabbeth Reunion Ozzy Osbourne has reportedly confirmed that in a radio interview that talks are underway for a possible Black Sabbath reunion. Asked during an interview if there was any truth to reports that Sabbath are in negotiations to reunite, Ozzy replied "I believe so." Surely he'd know, being the lead singer and all? Speaking to nationally syndicated US radio show 'Rockline' last night (Wednesday 31), Ozzy hinted that the reunion may take place during the stateside leg of this year's travelling festival Ozzfest. Ozzy couldn't confirm or deny the rumour that ex-Sabbath bassplayer Geezer Butler was once again part of his solo band, explaining he didn't want to give anything away for fear of being shouted at by wife and manager Sharon. Should Black Sabbath play at this year's Ozzfest it is unconfirmed as to whether they would replace Ozzy as headliners or play separate sets. It seems unlikely that Ozzfest will make it to the UK this year with the Download Festival returning to Donnington on June 5-6. The Darkness Sue AC/DC In a shock turn of events, Brit glam rockers The Darkness are taking AC/DC to court over alleged "riff thefts". "They just couldn't help themselves could they?" exclaimed The Darkness' singer Justin Hawkins. "'Back In Black'? That's just 'Black Shuck' with a different title innit? As for 'Highway To Hell', well that's just 'Love Is Only A Feeling' speeded up!" The writ was filed this morning after The Darkness successfully sued Queen on similar grounds. Jacko for Glastonbury Xfm reports: On the day that Glastonbury tickets are due to go on sale and following Emily Eavis’ recent claim that the line up includes “Some really special things planned that people don’t know about comes the news that Michael Jackson will be headlining the event. Following rumours that Oasis would be joining Paul McCartney as Glastonbury’s second headline act, comes the news that the Prince of Pop Michael Jackson will be topping the bill on the Sunday night of the three day event. Festival co-organiser Avril Fuule explained: “We really wanted a special act to finish off the final night of the event and Michael has made himself available - legal problems permitting - to fill the top slot. I must say that Michael has been very enthusiastic about the event, not only offering his services for the Main Stage but also expressing a definate interest in performing in the Children's Field too. Reports claim that Jackson’s performance will be his most theatrical ever. The stage itself will be flanked by two 40ft statues of space baboons made entirely of pencil shavings and mice. Jackson will be carried onstage on the shoulders of a giant Ragi Omar marionette before climbing onto a shrimp-operated hydraulic ramp that will catapult the singer three miles outside the festival site to a church hall in Frome. When there he will perform a selection to his greatest hit accompanied by Gene’s Martin Rossiter on the arse trumpet. |
In a shock turn of events, Brit glam rockers The Darkness are taking AC/DC to court over alleged "riff thefts". "They just couldn't help themselves could they?" exclaimed The Darkness' singer Justin Hawkins. "'Back In Black'? That's just 'Black Shuck' with a different title innit? As for 'Highway To Hell', well that's just 'Love Is Only A Feeling' speeded up!" The writ was filed this morning after The Darkness successfully sued Queen on similar grounds.
stupid glam rockers. because the darkness has been around for soooooooo much longer than AC/DC and Queen |

You Chicagoans out there merely need to tune your FM dials to 89.1, sit back, smile and learn. Crazy? Yeah. But the excitement of April does not stop here for this four-hour, commercial free, punk rock radio show. Next Friday night will feature exclusive audio with Tim and Lars of Rancid. River City Rebels To Record Beautiful losers, the River City Rebels, head into Loho Studios on the Lower East Side on Monday, April 5th to record their new album, "Hate To Be Loved" with producer Sylvain Sylvain. As longtime fans of the New York Dolls, the sessions are a dream come true, and the Rebels are bringing songs to the table that can hold up to scrutiny from the legend. Rock n' roll songs like "Dreamy 17" and "I'm So Vain" bring nihilism that has always been part of the Rebels to a new height of sleazy glory; "Die Young" and "No Easy Way Out" dissect an exquisite hopelessness. "Hate To Be Loved" is out this fall - meet the Rebels on the road, all summer long. For up to the minute info, stay tuned to the bands official site. Anatomy Of A Ghost New Release & Video Anatomy Of A Ghost will begin work on their forthcoming sophomore effort, Celebrations Of A Sky Blue Life, on May 17th with producer John Goodmanson (Vaux, Hot Hot Heat). The band will be previewing new songs from the effort on the Dance Or Die! Tour. In other news, Anatomy Of A Ghost will be filming a video for their new track "Watermark Run" on April 1st at the Chain Reaction in Anaheim, CA with director Brian Dale (Thrice, Fear Before The March Of Flames). The video will be filmed during the show, which is the kick off date of the Dance Or Die! Tour. An excerpt from a recent interview with Riley courtesy of waterispoison.com Then in May and June we’re doing the tour with Dashboard Confessional and The Get Up Kids which I read on the message board that people are unhappy about, but I don’t really care what they think. It's cool in the 'hardcore circle' or in the 'punk circle' or whatever, to hate Dashboard Confessional, and I can honestly say that I don't have any of his records and that I'm not a huge fan, but he's an awesome guy. He's come out to a ton of our shows and has always been super supportive of us. It's cool for 'hardcore' kids to think that Dashboard sucks.. and I can guarantee you that there are probably 45 0r 50% of the people that are like "Aw this tour suckkks" - they have a dashboard record. I've been to Dashboard shows, and his shows are awesome. He's there playing acoustic with thousands of kids singing along; and it's so loud that you almost can't hear one thing. It's definitely going to be cool to be a part of that. We're going to be doing 3 or 4 songs acoustic, I think, so it's giving us an opportunity to try something new. Doing that apple store show that we did - it was really fun.. and it's cool to take songs that are really heavy and aggressive and try to tone them down and give them a different presentation. So.. it's cool, and we see it as a challenge. It would be boring if we played with the same bands all the time. Granted there are people that are not gonna like the bands we play with, but we do things because we're always down with a new challenge and we want to try something different. This is something that we knew would probably piss a lot of people off. . but I don't want to do what people expect us to do. . I don't want to be predictable. And.. I think that the Get Up Kids are awesome.. so It'll be cool to play with them. Save The Gig Saves The Day and Grandaddy's show on April 5th at The Rave in Milwaukee, Wisconsin has been postponed. Secure in the knowledge that should mid-air disaster occur, their cryogenic replacements would march to the fore, they boarded a plane bound for Bombay. Once on the ground in the ancient city, Taking Back Sunday made a beeline for the hottest producer/re-mixer/lifestyle coach of the moment. Of course, you guess correctly, the Dali Lama himself. As spiritual as he is fresh, the DL brings mad beats and lessons of karmic balance to Taking Back Sunday. Despite his vow to change the band completely and alienate their entire fanbase, the new songs are said to be both spiritual and hard partying. The big one, for sure. Since this is the internet, you can just search the thread. If you have many small ones, you might have to search in many different threads before you find what you're looking for. |
I guess so, but the search feature is so faulty. You can't search things lower than 5 letters and it usually brings up bogus results. I don't trust that thing
|
the search function is ****, you can't even search for stuff like Iron Maiden

Once on the ground in the ancient city, Taking Back Sunday made a beeline for the hottest producer/re-mixer/lifestyle coach of the moment. Of course, you guess correctly, the Dali Lama himself. As spiritual as he is fresh, the DL brings mad beats and lessons of karmic balance to Taking Back Sunday. Despite his vow to change the band completely and alienate their entire fanbase, the new songs are said to be both spiritual and hard partying. With great joy, the band announces that the new record will be in your presence in July, 2004.
So far away...:upset: |
OK, think of this as a magazine. Would you rather buy monthly issues which are smaller and have the news for the right month than buy a massive yearly issue where you have to scan through constantly to find what you want?
TBS 2 Years On What do you get for lasting two years on the Billboard New Artist Chart?RETIRED! Taking Back Sunday now joins a very exclusive club of artists who, after bubbling under on the New Artist Chart for two years, are moved to the Top Catalog chart, where it can compete against Poison's Greatest Hits and various Yanni albums. Ah, the price of success. Taking Back Sunday's "Tell All Your Friends" released on Victory Records March 26, 2002 and proceeded to live on the New Artist (Heatseeker) Chart in Billboard for two years straight, scanning 339,324 units to date. The albumcontinues to scan over 2500 every week in defiance of the status quo that loosely governs the "life of a project". Taking Back Sunday peaked at #9 on the Heatseeker Chart, #8 on the Top Independent Label Chart, and #6 on the Alternative New Artist Chart. Their appearance at #183 on the Top 200 Chart is sure to be eclipsed on the release of their new album in July. While admitting that the Distillers aren't the "most original" or "best" band in the world, Granelli blurted, "I don't know how these crappy cover bands posing as new bands, like Jet or Kings Of Leon can take themselves seriously...(Jet) have that new single out now and you can count on one hand all the different songs in that one song. There's a Stones song in there; there's half of a Beatles song in there...and you go, 'Come on! I know you're from Australia and you probably don't get a lot of stuff out there, but please, this sucks!'" Jet has been the victim of barbs before this, most notably from the Strokes. Despite his tirade, Granelli says that the L.A.-based Distillers are not as angry as they seem to be: "I guess there's something about us that makes people think that we're really angry or pissed off. Maybe we are, but I don't really notice it. Maybe we're just scary people."
