Ambient suggestions...

It's time for finals, I need some good stuff.

thunderzstruck 12-11-2008 11:23 PM

i would go eluvium- copia

even though its not ambient, its downtempo electronic and its quite good (id study to it)
http://www.myspace.com/emancipator

or maybe carbon based lifeforms or brian eno. I don't know the genre too well so thats about the extent I know

ATM 12-11-2008 11:55 PM

Yeah Emancipator is sweet.

Meatplow 12-12-2008 12:46 AM

Hajsch - 1992

horseypie 12-12-2008 06:15 AM

saltillo - ganglion

^ I can't recommend listening to Anechoic Chamber (which is free for download on the site) enough. Some of the most relaxing, atmospheric tunes released this year - listen to the streams at the very least.

Also second that Saltillo recommendation.

The Future Sound Of London - Lifeforms
The Orb - U.F.Orb

Also, these are more psy-ambient, but:

Shulman - Soundscapes And Modern Tales
Younger Brother - A Flock Of Bleeps
Bluetech - Sines and Singularities
Solar Fields - Extended

Thanks guys.

Stars of the Lid make some of the most beautiful music in the world, so they are a must.

ATM 12-12-2008 01:40 PM

What album do you suggest?

moron 12-12-2008 03:21 PM

dir en grey
What album do you suggest?
Avec Laudanum and The Tired Sounds of Stars of the Lid are good ones to start on. I actually think that And Their Refinement of the Decline is the best but opinion on that one seems to be pretty mixed.

JonG 12-12-2008 05:45 PM

brian eno never gets old

copia is cool, but some songs the melodies can be a bit fast and distracting, not slow and soothing.

i still love it, but idk

This is very true.

How do people around here feel about Aphex Twin? Oh, and why hasn't anyone mentioned Sigur Rós?

RadioCollective 01-18-2009 09:24 PM

The Field's 'From Here We Go Sublime'? Seems ambient enough to me. I would study to that.

StreetlightRock 01-18-2009 09:25 PM

Thats minimal, but yea, its ok to study to.

Angmar 01-18-2009 09:38 PM

Thread needs more Raison d'Etre, Desiderii Marginis, Atrium Carceri, Herbst9, and Jaaportit.

My Mom got hit on by Brian Eno after a lecture he gave on the science of sound at the perimeter institute. Classy.

Also, Godspeed you! Black Emperor.
