It's been a while since a Psycho thread.
It's been awhile since I've seen a Psychobilly thread grace these boards, so I thought I'd start one...
I'll start with some of my favorite bands like Demented are Go, Necromantix, The Meteors, Mad Sin, Rev. Horton Heat, The Cramps (even though some don't consider them psycho) and many others. One of my first shows was Demented are Go when they toured the states and I was amazed at the energy and the sound of the music. I was wondering what you guys thought of the genre. |
I like and dislike a lot of it.
|
I used to be a big fan but the only bands I still listen to on occasion are The Meteors, The Cramps and The Sharks.
|
Omg! I was just thinking of making this thread today.
Earlier today I bought Songs The Lord Taught Us by The Cramps. Does not dissapoint. I'm looking for soem Reverend Horton Heat, too. Psychobilly is so awesome. |
I kinda only like tiger army... I have a "demented are go" and a "batmobile" record on my computer but I didn't like them too much.

I'm not a big Tiger Army fan, myself. |
I can't stand Tiger Army. And people who call Horrorpops psychobilly should be punched in the face.
Demented are Go, Mad Sin, Batmodbile, 12 Step Rebels, and many more are all awesome. |
how exaxtly do you define psychobilly? nekromantix is cool, i know that much

One half billy, one half punk rock. |
Mad Sin are playing tomorrow, but I can't make it unfortunatly. Demented Are Go! are really badass. I heard the new Horrorpops album sucked balls
|
Rev. Horton Heat is psychobilly?
I've heard alot about him/them but I didn't know it was psychobilly. I've been meaning to check out him/them for awhile. |
i like the 12 step rebels and Demented are go!... the Bassist from 12 step rebel's was crazy live... duirng one of the songs, he put his Double Bass up on his shoulders behind his head(like how guitarists do) and was playing a solo.... it was so funny, because the crowd just stopped what they were doing... and jaws just dropped... good show
|
I listened to the Best of the Frantic Flinstones as I walked home from college.
|
Mad sin is one of my favorite bands, they're just awesome, everyone should listen to them. New album is out sometime in october.
I also love the astro zombies, the meteors, the cramps, cenobites and demented are go |
Mad sin are awesome. My favourite psychobilly band along with the cramps.
|
my favourite physcobilly band in nekromantix...my first show was rancid, and tiger army came, they played an amazing show
|
Anyone like the Devil Dogs? They're not exactly psychobilly, but rockabilly mixed with punk, on the rock and roll side.
|
whats the deffinition for a Psychobilly band...
im still learning my genres |
Rev. Horton Heat is psychobilly?
I've heard alot about him/them but I didn't know it was psychobilly. I've been meaning to check out him/them for awhile.
He is more on the rockabilly revival side
whats the deffinition for a Psychobilly band... im still learning my genres
http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=255094 Read both mine and El_Shiznit's posts in that thread. In short, psychobilly is blending rockabilly (which had a revival in the 80s, which lead to psychobilly) with punk, making it faster, with a lot of references to horror movies, hot rods, etc. |
RHH rules. And I like Tiger Army. That's pretty much the only psycho I listen to.
|
Brian Setzer may not be rocka/psychobilly, but it was certainly one of his influences.

The Stray Cats were part of the Rockabilly Revival, and Brain Setzer Orchestra was part of the swing revival that followed, and they had a lot of rockabilly influences because of Setzer's guitar playing. Both excellant bands. Setzer was great. |
I like Psychobilly like...Tiger Army...even though i would'nt really classify them as very psycho....but anything else just pisses me off...like...Demented are Go, Horrorpops, and Necromantix ETC...they are just...stupid...

i'd rather listen to Nekromantix than tiger army. anyway, another great psychobilly band that get the short end of the stick respect-wise is definately The Phenomenauts |
I wouldn't call them psychobilly.
|
