You're ignorant. Jason is a horrid vocalist. Go to youtube and look up a video of Seek&Destroy. There's a few of them where Jason sings the first verse. he sucks, hard. In referrence to your earlier statement about Mustaine giving Metallica riffs or whatever, Metallica's best album is MOP. It's a fiesta of frquent fretting and it owns KEA and RTL. It's even ranked number 169 on Rolling Stones Magazines 500 greatest albums, which is ahead of any of Megadeth's albums btw. Mustaine contributed no riffs to MOP, so I think James is just fine without him.
...because everybody knows Rolling Stone Magazine is the authority on metal, or music in general.

Apocalyptic Raids 09-10-2006 11:58 PM

The Rolling Stone 500 Greatest albums list wasn't compiled by the staff of Rolling Stone itself.

heavy metal kid 09-10-2006 11:59 PM
Because it had, Hetfield, Ulrich, Burton, Mustaine and Hammett.
This is one of the main reasons of why RtL is my favorite Metallica album.

I didn't know that Metallica had to buy the whole Johnny Got his Gun movie rights just so they can do the One video.
The Rolling Stone 500 Greatest albums list wasn't compiled by the staff of Rolling Stone itself.
...but by the people deemed by Rolling Stone Magazine to be important in music?

Apocalyptic Raids 09-11-2006 12:27 AM

It was 273 musicians, record executives, producers etc

and yeah the metal representation was shitty but anyone who expected anything else is dumb.

pate 09-11-2006 12:31 AM

Ah. And I wasn't expecting anything else.

Apocalyptic Raids 09-11-2006 12:33 AM

I was genuinely suprised there was no Iron Maiden or Judas Priest, though.

Here's a link to a show where Jason sings if you like:

jason sings alot better then james does now. and jason can STILL sing.

Chu 09-11-2006 06:51 AM

I think James can still sing fine, ****, to be honest, I'm happier with Metallica now, then I was say 5 years ago, they have improved a lot in that short time.

You cannot expect a band to stay the same for 20, almost 30 years (Metallica formed in 1979 or so?), they're always going to change.

I for one, am very happy that they are starting to release (heavy) metal again, who cares if they're downtuning these days? They're older, they've changed a bit, they might not be able to do the same things they once did, but they can still play music, and that's all I care about.

Who cares that Lars doesn't play the most technical drums in the world?
Maybe I'm the only one, but last I checked, Metallica didn't claim to play technical music by any standard.

Who cares that Kirk abuses the pentatonic scale? When he does play leads, people complain that he always plays the same solo or whatever (I am guilty of this), yet when he doesn't play a solo, people complain about that too.

It's like people don't want to accept that musicians are just normal people, and as normal people, they have to change.

Ahh, I was a bit off there :p

MrSigma 09-11-2006 06:58 PM

yeah james could make his vocals fit the music, easily. He just needs to stop singing country to his heavy metal songs. He needs to start doing vocals like mudvayne (jk). He needs to stop singing though, and do vocals. More like their first cd.

I have said this numberous times... he really needs to go back to that mean dirty voice on the older albums.

MrSigma 09-11-2006 07:25 PM

this is sweet you can hear the bass on "One"

the instruments are fine, usually...

6stringed 09-11-2006 08:51 PM

I watched that..
then listened to Seek&Destroy

Leper Messiah

You rather hear him just yelling out words?

MrSigma 09-12-2006 12:04 AM
You rather hear him just yelling out words?
yeah like your mom when she sees you talking to girls with the door shut

6stringed 09-12-2006 09:59 AM

ha.

yeah I'd rather hear that

Lionheart1827 09-12-2006 10:26 AM

If you think James is gonna go back to vocals like the first album, you're hoping for too much. He blew his voice out on the Black Album tour because of that. After that happened, he went to a voice coach and thats why he's been "singing" rather than "shouting."

Get over it.

MRDuCran 09-12-2006 02:25 PM

So yeah...those covers, anyone?

Oh I don't care at all. I'm completly done with Metallica. SKOM showed that they are complete greedy fags. Plus, they suck now.

I'd love to see you justify that.

Your not done with Metallica, it seems that it's practically on your daily agenda to post your criticisms in there thread.

its like ozzys show on mtv. they were once a great band but now they are just entertainment

ozzy still is kickass though

Huber 09-12-2006 08:49 PM
cuz they are gay
Okay, as long as your not all lame and serious I don't care.

edit: to your new post

Meh, that comparison is slightly fair. I don't give Ozzy any flack for the Osbournes. Money is money, and it affected his music little. Same goes for Metallica, so I don't really see the reason why you could hate a band for it all the sudden.

I guess if your THAT put off by being put in a tv show or a movie and being exposed it makes sense. I don't mind it though.

MrSigma 09-12-2006 08:50 PM

Then don't listen to them?
So yeah...those covers, anyone?
I am!

I still need to actually learn the songs though, while I can play the notes to some of the songs fine, I need to learn more then just that!

Yeah that's cool. I think we should get a drummer to start us off though because without drums, us being able to play stuff won't really matter.

Who have we got, Huber and Jred250 so far.

By the looks of things, not many people care atm.

You Metallica haters should seriously just fuck off and stop wasting your time, noone in here gives a flying fuck about your opinion on them.

I can play Battery pretty friggin good. The riffs to that song is part of my warmup. Trapped Under Ice is one of my favorite Metallica songs to play though.:thumb:

You and Chu could do the rhythm parts for Battery then since that song has been mentioned alot and this project is hardly going anywhere fast at the moment. We just need Jred250 to get us the drum track.

PepsiMetal 09-12-2006 09:37 PM
ozzy is still cool though. james is a greedy old man.
Yeah, Ozzy making an MTV show isn't being greedy lol. He has been commercialized more than James. Most people know more about ozzy's son and daughter than they know of his band members who contributed alot to his music. If you're going to contrast someone with James, it can't be Ozzy.

Coolness is an opinion, if you ask an average teen, 50 cent is cool too. Oh and coolness has nothing to do with music.

Lionheart1827 09-12-2006 09:48 PM

The only thing is I play in Eb and I'm definately not retuning to standard with a floyd. Too much of a hassle, but if it NEEDS to be done, I can always break out my Viper and uptune that.

I just need to find time with college and shat.

I'm sure it wouldn't be to much of a hassle for the other guys to tune down a half step.

Here is your Metallica drummer.....
