There's a lot more than that, try 8 or so.
What makes you say 8?

Sounds like it could be just 3 to me.

pate 09-05-2006 02:29 PM

Double tracking is all over the place.

Joe 09-05-2006 03:23 PM

Well there is three: left, right, and center.

...For Kirk, James, the clean part that's played behind the harmonies. I think that's it, so 9.

(It's not uncommon for me to have a song with 12 or so guitar tracks. I love double tracking.)

So what songs are we doing? Whose doing them?
You might get 3 guitarists wanting to play lead because they so love that song and play it everyday in their room...how would we choose who does it?
Depends on the song. And there's always the record it and we'll vote technique.

MRDuCran 09-05-2006 04:52 PM

I don't think any songs have been decided yet for sure but Fade to Black, Battery, For Whom the Bell Tolls have all been listed, along with Chu's list.

Jred250 09-05-2006 05:13 PM
I guess they'd all record and post and we'd vote for the best track.
I agree, I mean if for example 3 drummers all posted the drums too... Battery, Its just a case of deciding who's drum track serves the song best... I mean no hard feelings. The way I see it is, I know there are thousands of drummers worse than me, I know there are thousands of drummers better than me... Its just the way it is. If I don't like that its tough lmao.

I am going to have a little trouble recording battery also.. I was recording it yesterday afternoon when I fell of my drum throne in pain, I wen't down to the hospital and they diagnosed me with a sprained spine and neck. Told me to do nothing for 3 days and then no lifting ect for 7 days:, However.. They have given me some extremely strong co-codamol and some Diazapam that basically relaxes all the muscles.. so I think I should still be ok to play it...

I don't know if anyone here has ever had Diazapam but it has some pretty lethal side effects lol... I will post them because it will probably make you guys smile as it did with me....

#
Diazapam is taken by many patients without problems however it may occasionally cause side effects in some people. The most common side effects are...

Tiredness, Drowsiness, Reduced Alertness, Muscle Weakness, Loss Of Memory, Difficulty sleeping, Anxiety, Loss of co-ordination, confusion, depression, dizziness, Blurred or double vision, Slurred Speech, Nausia, Vomiting, Abdominal Pain, Diarroea, Consipation, Headaches, Low Blood Pressure, Changes in sexual desire, Production of too much/too little saliva, Skin Reactions, Shaking, Incontinance, Problems passing water, Jaundice, Increased levels of certain substances in the blood, Restlessness, Agitation, Irritability, Agressivness, Delusions, Rages, Nightmares, Hallucinations, Psychiatric Disorders, Unsuitable Behaviour.

Well!! After reading the warning leaflet I began to think... hmmm Maybe My back doesn't feel so bad after all lmao :smoke:

Also, I got my new double bass pedal today so yay!

P.S Can I recommend Harvester of sorrow also?

MRDuCran 09-05-2006 05:29 PM

Wow, pretty intense story there dude, go easy on yourself. Spraining your neck/spine + playing Battery on drums could = more pain/worse injury.

Harvester of Sorrow rawks.

I remember the first day you started this. Funny isn't it?

Chu 09-06-2006 04:04 AM

Guys, you don't have to ask about a song to record.

Record your own version, because that will make people hurry up and record theirs.

P.S. I'm definately not being involved in For Whom The Bell Tolls, but I would love to see what you guys can come up with. I have played it just too much, it pisses me off (But still, sick song to listen to :p).

I listenned to the whole of Ride The Lightning today, haven't done that in a very long time.

Such a pro album. :D

adamstartin 09-06-2006 11:19 AM

Ive got a backing track for sanitarium so i might do that today. I cant do the solo though so it might be a copy and paste job haha.

Joe 09-06-2006 04:33 PM

Yes, it is. Aren't you proud of us? I think it's the longest running R&M thread.

A backing... guitar track? That sounds cool. Post it whenever you get a chance

I did too. I've been listening to Kill 'Em All a lot lately and when I listened to all of RTL again I remembered why it's my favorite.

I hope Metallica's new album is as good as Iron Maiden's.

You don't need to copy and paste, someone else could do it.

MRDuCran 09-09-2006 05:24 AM

Well since noone else is, I might as well post something because I actually want this project to happen!!

http://media.putfile.com/MRDuCran---Enter-Sandman-solo-clip

Just a quick take of that solo for fun.

Ha, pretty good. Anyone else seen the Simpsons clip yet?

adamstartin 09-09-2006 02:14 PM

I think it sounds better than the original haha
Ha, pretty good. Anyone else seen the Simpsons clip yet?
They have Act one of the episode they are in on the official Simpsons Myspace.

Its really only a cameo and they aren't part of the whole episode unfortunately.

I think the site is http://www.myspace.com/thesimpsons

It should show up on the tv screen, a commercial should play first.

metallicaman8 09-09-2006 07:40 PM
I hope Metallica's new album is as good as Iron Maiden's.
That would be wonderful, but I don't see it happeneing. I have as much faith for Metallica as the next guy, but based on the two new songs I've heard their next album will be St. Anger+solos. I actually don't mind that as I can listen to St. Anger from time to time and with the addition of solos it'll make it all the more listenable. I doubt they'll ever be able to cunjur up an album like MOP or RTL again, though.

Chu 09-09-2006 09:00 PM

Mmm, unfortunately my brother (My drummer) doesn't want to learn any more Metallica songs.. So I can no longer get the drums for ...AJFA.

I'm coming pretty well, as far as the guitar and vocals go. (Although the vocals come in at a weird time so I often lose place if I'm singing and playing, but the more I practice the better I'll get), I'm learning each seperate riff at the moment, I'm not too good at combining the riffs, but this is how I learn most songs, it might not be the most effecient way, but I know it works for me.

Just wanted to keep you guys up to date, I haven't forgotten :D

Edit: For some reason I can *only* downpick and sing, I can't sing if I'm alt. picking, and to downpick requires so much concentration from me, but at least ...AJFA isn't MoP :D

MRDuCran 09-09-2006 09:14 PM

If we were going to record the instruments individually, it doesn't matter about synching up vocals and guitar at the same time, just work on both seperately and then record them seperately.

MrSigma 09-09-2006 11:31 PM

maybe if they asked Mr. Dave Mustaine nicely for some more riffs, they would have a decent album.

OH and they should have begged Jason to come back and been bassist/vocalist and made james backup vocalist. i think they would have been decent then. But jason hates those pricks.

Chu 09-10-2006 12:39 AM

What are you talking about Hetfield is still a master of riffs.

Huber 09-10-2006 01:25 AM

Jason was not good enough for permanent vocalist slot.

And you're first statement is just stupid.

"What if Slipknot asked Mr. John Petrucci for some more solos they would have a decent album lawl"

Kage 09-10-2006 01:34 AM

It really bugs me how people like to add Mr. to rock musicians names. It really just irks me.

Chu 09-10-2006 01:47 AM

I guess it's just showing some sort of respect for the person.

Kage 09-10-2006 02:26 AM

Nah, that's the thing. It's not for respect, it just gives this stupid little tone that bugs me. I can't describe it.

james cant sing anymore. jason could. james would still be rythem guitar and backup vocals. jason would be bass and lead vocals.

its because dave mustaine has my respect. james hetfield does not.

Chu 09-10-2006 02:43 AM

No offense, but I'm pretty sure neither of them would care either way.

123 to the idea of Dave giving Metallica some riffs

No to the idea of Mr. John Petrucci giving Slipknot riffs

No.

Hetfield is still a riff beast.

You're ignorant. Jason is a horrid vocalist. Go to youtube and look up a video of Seek&Destroy. There's a few of them where Jason sings the first verse. he sucks, hard. In referrence to your earlier statement about Mustaine giving Metallica riffs or whatever, Metallica's best album is MOP. It's a fiesta of frquent fretting and it owns KEA and RTL. It's even ranked number 169 on Rolling Stones Magazines 500 greatest albums, which is ahead of any of Megadeth's albums btw. Mustaine contributed no riffs to MOP, so I think James is just fine without him.

Here's a link to a show where Jason sings if you like:

James is so much better than Jason

highwaysalmon 09-10-2006 01:26 PM

this better not turn into the metallica/megadeth arguement again. its a big waste of time.

He claims to have written Leper Mesiah.. oh well.

It's taken me a long while, seriously ...AJFA was my favorite Metallica album for such a long long time, but now RTL is mine.

metallicaman8 09-10-2006 03:16 PM
He claims to have written Leper Mesiah.. oh well.

I seriously doubt he wrote it. Even if he did that's not the best song on the album anyhow, and AJFA and their S/T still provide evidence that James can write some damn good riffs.

I really like RTL, as well. It isn't my favourite though, mostly thanks to weaker tracks the "Trapped Under ice" and "Escape". I still like those tracks, but they're not up to par with the rest of the album. Not to mention I just like MOP's overall feel better.

MRDuCran 09-10-2006 03:23 PM

Heh, it's either Hetfield vs Mustaine or omgwhatsyourfavouritealbum ITT.

Let's get on with those covers. :(

Lionheart1827 09-10-2006 06:03 PM

Yeah RTL is my favorite album.

I dont know what it is, but it has "something" that the other albums dont.:thumb:

Chu 09-10-2006 07:32 PM

Because it had, Hetfield, Ulrich, Burton, Mustaine and Hammett.

5 of the most metal mother ****ers out there :D (This was the case when it was released imo, it's changed since then obviously).

Edit: MoP has a Mustaine sound to it imo, if he didn't write any of the material, it was definately influenced by him.
