I don't remember who the characters are, I just remember I hated it. And a baby gets shot. (I didn't know why though.)

Gahh, I have to read that later this year for my honors english class. I heard it sucked bad. :upset: Oh well, I've gotten used to reading overrated novels in my english class. The only peice of literature I've read this year so far is Animal Farm by George Orwell. That man is a genius. Thoughts?

Illmatic 03-06-2005 03:11 PM

kombucha: How old are you? Just curious.

The funny this is that I never read a whole chapter of it, but the final test on it was worth like..10 percent of my final semester grade, and somehow, I ended up getting a 90% on it. I was very intrigued by this.

EDIT: Turned 16 on 2/18

You? I assume you're 19 or 20, correct?

Real name? I'm Jake. :p

CemetaryGates9 03-06-2005 03:13 PM

George Orwell is awesome. Animal Farm and 1984 are my favorite books. Im also reading
George Orwell- A clergyman's daughter

Never read Animal Farm. So far this year we've read Oedipus Rex and The Illiad, and after this research paper ( ), we'll be reading Hamlet (or Macbeth, I'm not sure) and 1984. I'm looking forward to 1984.

CemetaryGates9 03-06-2005 03:16 PM

I want to read the Odysey and the Iliad. Im trying to read every classic novel I can. I dont know why, I just do.

I'm twelve though... :upset:

I turn 19 in August.

Also, I just remembered the most excruciatingly, painfully boring book ever.

"The Scarlet Letter".

Game, set, and match.

jpj 03-06-2005 03:17 PM

This year in English I've read 1984, A Clockwork Orange, and I'm almost done with The Hitckhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

CemetaryGates9 03-06-2005 03:19 PM

I tried to read Scarlet Letter. I put it down and I will NOT read that. Indeed it was boring.

If I could only read three books, I d want to read

A clockwork Orange
Brave New World
For whom the Bell Tolls

Edit: yes, Im twelve. :upset:

Animal Farm's alright, yeah. I remember, as a part of studying the book, we watched a film of it, with Kelsey Grammer doing the voice of Snowball, which was surprisingly good.

Both books are really good. I like The Odyssey better though, because it has monsters and stuff. I'm more interested in that.

EDIT: Tender, we're going to watch that movie in Politcal Science.

Oedipus Rex..Is that the same Oedipus that did his mom?

I read the play about his daughter, titled "Antigone" by Sophocles. I enjoyed reading it.

I wrote a very decent essay on how her actions are equivalent to the actions of Martin Luther King. :p sweetnuss++

Yea, Oedipus Rex and Antigone are both parts of a trilogy. Those are the only two I've read though :p I can't remember the other book.

As it should be :)

Which book are you up to?

Dr. Jake Destructo 03-06-2005 03:27 PM

Is anyone familiar with Richard Wright and his novels? I am in the middle of reading 'Black Boy' which is an autobiography, and I am about to start 'Native Son.' Black Boy is a fairly interesting novel, and it shows you that your life really could be worse. :p

I think he did one called "Uncle Tom's Children." That is one of the best books I've ever read. Actually, I think it is the best.

Illmatic 03-06-2005 03:29 PM

To be honest, I have a hard time reading about anything that isn't about sports or music >_>

That said, I enjoyed The Autobiography of Malcolm X.

One of the, if not just the, best flash games around.

http://www.playaholics.com/play/madness

I think it'd be more satisfying if you went to http://www.flashplayer.com and watched the original four animations first (would make more sense, for one), but please yourself.
