PaulSimonon 12-07-2004 03:53 PM

I haven't asked for anything.

Mitchell Royce 12-07-2004 03:55 PM

The next person to change their avatar to something christmassy/kwaanzay/whatever is getting negative rep from me. This is absolutly getting out of hand and avatarly challanged people like me are starting to get pissed. /rant

ElKapitan 12-07-2004 03:55 PM

my nan usually just buys something off my mum to give me
*has slightly senile Nan*

PaulSimonon 12-07-2004 03:56 PM

Is mine avatar-ly challenged?

At least I made mine myself.

ElKapitan 12-07-2004 03:57 PM

get in the spirit man, its only once a year!!

neal_672 12-07-2004 03:58 PM

Yeah, Xmas is cool :thumb:

Mitchell Royce 12-07-2004 03:58 PM

And Spaceman, have you read Survivor by Chuck? It's probably the best book he's written. Great writer.

PaulSimonon 12-07-2004 04:00 PM

Everyone should read The Mysterious Island by Jules Verne. Great book!

Mitchell Royce 12-07-2004 04:00 PM

No I'm sick of christams officially by now, I cannot stand shopping and I'm not even done with it yet. Hate, hate, hate christmas shopping. Especially since I'm poor.

Somebody needs a hug

PaulSimonon 12-07-2004 04:02 PM

Oh, I hear you. Especially since my family's car broke down. I won't be able to buy too much.

ElKapitan 12-07-2004 04:02 PM

lmao
EDIT: not at u paul

Mitchell Royce 12-07-2004 04:03 PM

For all you scholarly types that care about reading for real I recommend "How to be Alone" by Jonathan Franzen very much. I just finished it and I can say I'm moved.

PaulSimonon 12-07-2004 04:03 PM

Hmm.... brief summary?

ElKapitan 12-07-2004 04:03 PM

too busy reading the canterbury tales and Henry IV for uni at the moment

Spaceman Spiff 12-07-2004 04:06 PM
And Spaceman, have you read Survivor by Chuck? It's probably the best book he's written. Great writer.
i have.
i've read:
-Fight Club
-Choke
-Lullaby
-Survivor

i have the other ones but have not gotten around to reading them yet.

and Stranger Than Fiction is not a novel, it's more a collection of essays and intrerviews and that sort of thing.

(and lets not start up about Guts again...or we can, because that was fun ;))

neal_672 12-07-2004 04:07 PM

The Handmai's Tale - Margaret Attwood. Not a pleasant read, but interesting for those who like to have something to think over :thumb:

Mitchell Royce 12-07-2004 04:07 PM

Paul, it's a collection of essays that deal with the loss of privacy and the state of fiction in the United States. It's obviously non-fiction, but great to read and very interesting and stimulating to read(even though my descrition makes it sound dry and boring). You will thank yourself for having read it.

ElKapitan 12-07-2004 04:07 PM

i should really get around to reading Ullyses by Joyce but i'm too snowed under with reading at the moment. and i always get put off for some reason

twopelu 12-07-2004 04:08 PM
Darn it, if i catch you on later I will post it.
Im here.

Hi all, how it was?

(My question is still up: Anyone know how does it work the pasive/active switch on a Tribute G&L 2000?)

ElKapitan 12-07-2004 04:09 PM

ARGH!!! i did that for my AS level and i hated every single page of it!!
i'm not too keen on feminist literature full stop but thats just me
it is a very clever and thought provoking book, i just hated doing it for my A levels

Mitchell Royce 12-07-2004 04:09 PM

On the tribute/american L2000:
3 way switch: passive/active/active with treble boost.

what's the deal with the last 50 or so pages of that book being only 1 sentence? if i remember correctly (noth that i've read the book, but i know some about it, and i have it) isn't it all just thoughts of people and has to do with how sporadic the mind is?

correct me if i'm wrong.

i would like to read it sometime, too.

twopelu 12-07-2004 04:12 PM

If you switch the pasive on then the bass acts like a pasive isnt it? But, it will need batteries... *confused*

Kayetan 12-07-2004 04:12 PM
(My question is still up: Anyone know how does it work the pasive/active switch on a Tribute G&L 2000?)
The lowest toggle switch on the bass, closest to the bridge is the Active/Passive switch. The position closest to you while you are playing is passive. the middle one is active and the position farthest from you is active with high EQ.

I have to say (doing it for my A-levels) i don't particularly like the book, a bit too extreme, but it's very well written, and thought provoking, which is why i recommended it, i'm sure someone would be interested...

Mitchell Royce 12-07-2004 04:15 PM

Yes, with passive on the batteries are no longer necessary. They're only there for the active preamp.

ElKapitan 12-07-2004 04:15 PM

yeah, Joyce is famous for his Modernism 'stream of consciousness' writing style. i've read 'A Portrait of the Artists as a Young Man' and thats just really weird and random

D@MN MODERNISTS!!!

No offence, Mitchell Scrooge, but your rep is only worth a couple of points, that's not going to threaten anyone.

Lighten up! If it offends you THAT much you can choose not to have avatars displayed.

bassist-bmxer 12-07-2004 04:16 PM

yeah so i just had a big row with my drummer, and now i have quit the band!

i know what u mean, its just i truly despise the teacher i had during my AS levels. he once insulted my girlfriend and i threatened to cut his thorat....it all got a bit out of hand :upset:

neal_672 12-07-2004 04:18 PM

Hmmmm my teacher's pretty awesome, but kinda a feminist so it's a bit silly sometimes...
