****in, most epic **** ever. the riffage is awe inspiring.

saw ratatat and panther tonight, i'm not huge into ratatat but they were pretty cool live, all their (imo) good songs were the most fun of the night: "Lex," "Wildcat," "Loud Pipes," "Seventeen Years." Panther was pretty good also, but the one guy drummed and the other dude just played the guitar and bass tracks from his macbook and just sang. He played guitar on a couple songs and they played a new song which was really good, way more like hip hoppy and beat oriented than anything on 14kt God.

most importantly,
He's currently planning a new project called Shrinebuilder featuring Al Cisneros (Om and Sleep) and Scott Kelly of Neurosis (former Om and Sleep drummer Chris Hakius was initially part of the project but is no longer involved) and is also planning to record an album of solo material in 2008.
Don't ****ing start with Doppelganger was better

YDload 10-04-2008 03:46 PM

the original FCP is better than the remix cause the bass had the main melody

but i do agree that the other songs common to S/T and Doppleganger were better recorded on the later album. but that album still doesnt have anything like Rockstar Nailbomb or Reassurance Rests in the Sea

Reassurance Rests In The Sea was written when Thomas was like 17 it's amazing.

And I agree, the original FCP is much better.

I'm js that Manipulator brought a lot to the table, and hopefully the new album will too.

They are redoing the Ghost Ship EPs

The Week That Was

I found out about this band on Pitchfork, but stay with me (I know there's a lotta hate at Pfork, althoughsince we're on the subject I'd just like to personally add I think it's undeniable they have an uncanny ability to find some great stuff most people have never heard of (excluding titus androicus, which totally just blows), and I'm not saying that they 'discovered' TWTW because they're a continuation of Field Music, which was a pretty popular band in their own right, but moving on).

Really cool stuff. they're kind of like, a british Menomena, in that their songs are more like three-dimensional constructions that kind of go all over.

Anywhoo, check'em out.

okay 10-04-2008 04:54 PM

was that first paragraph there really necessary
