I realize that. I just say my opinion when I want now :). Before I didn't want to sound like an elistsist, so I kept my mouth shut. Now I don't really care. I still respect other opinions, but I say what I want.
BRUSSELS (Reuters) - Belgium's history of linguistic bickering between Flemings and Walloons entered a new phase this week when police arrested a Flemish woman for calling her Walloon husband lazy, Belgian media said Thursday.

The 48-year-old husband filed a complaint for racism against his spouse for scratching him and calling him "a lazy Walloon, a slave and an inferior creature," De Standaard daily said.

The 47-year-old woman will appear before a magistrate later Thursday to face charges of racism, the newspaper said.

Dutch-speaking Flemings and French-speaking Walloons are not only linguistically divided but also split socio-economically between a prosperous Flanders and a poorer Wallonia.
Racism. :upset:

No reason for a trial though. :p Just a good old fashioned beating.

There's a chance I'll be able to see the Pogues in December. Which makes me rather happy. It's a shame it's not in an enclosed, smokey atmosphere, but you can't have everything.

It's in an arena, of all places (what was the Telewest arena in Newcastle - not sure what it's known as now, but I know where it is, which should be enough).

Because I just feel left out. I'm a very shy person, and there are lots of things troubling me. Lets just say, I'm deeper than most of my schoolmates.

Understood.

Remember, though, that you're in middle school, and your classmates are naturally at all ends of the spectrum, heh. I was terribly shy in middle school, but I managed fine. You will like high school, I'd imagine, because you'll meet new people and all that other good stuff.

I'll tell you a quick story.

Eighth grade promotion, the "in" thing to do was to go with a date and all that other stuff (funny, I should have applied this to high school prom, but I didn't go ).

Anyways, I was going to go with my best friend at the time, and you would think it'd be easy to just go up and ask her, but I couldn't do it. I don't remember exactly how it went down, but this is a pretty close reincarnate:

Me: "So, how's it going?"
Friend: "Good, and you?"
Me: "Good... [awkwardly long silence] so, you know, uh... you know how we, uh, have promotion and stuff coming up? [more awkward silence]"
Friend: "[laughing] Yeah..."
Me: "Right, so, are you going with anyone yet?"
Friend: "No..."
Me: "Right, well, do you want... to go... with me?"
Friend: "Hehe, I'll think about it."
Me: "Alrighty."

At that point, we've all heard the rumors that "I'll think about it" means "no."

But not all was lost, she came up to me ten minutes later and said yes. I still felt like a pile of nerves. But we had fun as much as eighth graders could have.

Our class song was that damn Vitamin C song. They played it at least five times at the ceremony. We were sick of it, heh.

But yeah, you're not the only one who's shy in middle school, believe me.

Arrakakaka 10-28-2005 07:16 PM

No worries. You'll probably enjoy high school more. I can't say that THS is a wonderful school (magicbus and I have an unbiased [cough] opinion on the matter, I assure you), but you'll enjoy the experience, probably. You learn a lot of stuff inside the classroom and out in middle school, but it's even moreso in high school.

And then moreso in college/university, heh.

Joe 10-28-2005 07:22 PM
Thanks :D
Yes. I agree with Jom's story. I was in a similar situation in middle school. I hated it. High school is so much more fun because there are too many people and you don't need to worry about the random few that just suck.

RiceMonster 10-28-2005 07:29 PM

I was treated like crap before I went to Highschool. Then when I went to high school, I could basically start again and find all kinds of new friends. Then it turns out all the poeple who treated me like crap took all lower level courses, because they're to stupid to work in the average ones, so I don't have to deal with them anymore.

Well I went to Catholic School. In middle school those people are the worst. So clique-y. It's really awful. I was kind of like an outcast there. I had a few friends throughout the years but overall it sucked. But in Highschool I have a ton of friends (a lot of which are more acquaintances than friends) but no one really is mean to me, at all.

YDload 10-28-2005 08:05 PM

I heard "NIB" on the radio today, and it wasn't the normal Black Sabbath studio version. The bass was a lot more active and really stood out everywhere, almost like Iron Maiden or something.

I don't think it was just Ozzy's solo band because the guitar didn't have any pinch harmonics going on (unless this was before Zakk). Have any of you heard this version before?

YDload 10-28-2005 08:13 PM
Could it have been Ugly Kid Joe's cover?
No it was definitely Ozzy singing, and the guitar solo was note-for-note although the tone was slightly different.

I loves me some spicy octopus.

(sounds weird, I know, but it's fucking delicious.)

Kage 10-28-2005 10:36 PM

I've never had octopus; squid isn't bad though. Once you get past the weird consistency of it, it can taste really good.
