Question Regarding Sputnik

When posting a review on Sputnik, is HTML or VB Code allowed?
Better ask in the Sputnik subforum in site.
That seems to be a pretty petty thing to call out a teacher for, but to each his own.
It isn't when someone claims to like every music genre. :)

I was thinking about doing a review, but I'm pretty sure every album has been done (at least that I know)

I will happily admit I do not like every *music* genre

You can do a review about an album that has already been done. :)

I always take pride in liking so many genres, but I'm sure there are some genres I don't like, so I usually say :'I like most genres'.

Well, I'm sure the teacher made the mistake and said that they liked "every" genre of music; nothing to get bitchy about.

np: Charles Mingus - Don't Be Afraid, The Clown's Afraid Too

Ad Absurdum 10-28-2005 03:36 PM

Isn't death metal just a subgenre of metal anyway? I don't really know how these things are classed.

Well, I guess you're right, but I too tend to get bitchy in musical discussions, hell I just like humiliating people by pointing out they're
wrong. :)
Isn't death metal just a subgenre of metal anyway? I don't really know how these things are classed.
Yeah, I suppose you could see it as a style more than as a genre, but that's just perception.

Ok when I get around to it. Is it the same username/password as here or no?

I like a lot of genres. There are certain ones I can't stand either because I don't believe it's real music or I just don't like it. I like almost everything everyone in here likes and several other forums.

Well, I used to be like that, so maybe I can empathize? I dunno...I don't like humiliating people all that much anymore, unless they truly deserve to be put in their place. Otherwise, it does no good.

Yeah, it's basically an enlarged subforum of this site.

Yeah, some things are hardly music, like popular techno or some MTV R&B.

I know, I know. It does make you feel good though sometimes, you have to admit. I don't always do it in an evil way, naturally, to my friends I will jokingly put them in their place and they'd feel embarrassed that I outsmarted them again, but we just laugh it off.

It feels so good if you can burn someone's words to the ground if you hate that person though.

Popular Techno I don't mind because that's the whole point of the genre. Rap and R&B went from music with fast vocals to techno with whores.

I still don't consider techno music, but it's not as bad as rap/r&b.

The Prodigy, Aphex Twin, Kraftwerk (in a way)? Awesome music, because there's effort put into it and it's not just made on a computer to entertain faggots on speed in a club.

And You shouldn't generalise Rap and R&B either, there's some great rap out there, it's just not on MTV.

Oh I agree completely. There is some really great stuff. And to be quite honest I don't mind Usher because some of his songs he really puts together the vocals well.
Wait, wait, wait, wait...what?
Yea I'm over exaggerating. There's a lot of talent in it, but I don't consider it music compared to a guitarist, bassist, and drummer and even a pianist

That's a rather elitist and moronic mindset to have.

NP: Django Reinhardt - Douce Ambiance

Hah, well personally, I really hate Usher, partially because I can't stand his face.

And a lot of hip hop groups have a band with all those members you named. Example: The Roots

I don't really care about his physical appearance...

And yes I know there are, I'm generalizing about what's mainstream now. The Roots are pretty good. There's a rap band at my school that's got a band and they're awesome.

Fine, it would be "music." You're right, just because I don't like it doesn't mean it's not music.

Am I allowed to think synthesizing real instruments isn't music?

NP: Tears in the Rain - Satch

Illmatic 10-28-2005 04:03 PM

I think that a music can be made with a computer or with a full orchestra. Golly, I must be an idiot.
I think that a music can be made with a computer or with a full orchestra. Golly, I must be an idiot.
You think it's as much talent to conduct an orchestra on a computer and I think it takes more to conduct a real orchestra, that's fine. It's a matter of opinion

WP: Sad but True - Metallica
NP: Romeo and Juliet - Dire Straits

superpeer 10-28-2005 04:09 PM

A synthesizer is an instrument, so it's still made with an instrument.

Some things that are made with a computer aren't music though, id est, some popular techno.

Yes, which is why I finally came to agree techno is for the most part music because it's made by synthesizer. Now it's all computer. That's different.

Notice the word 'art' in there, though, that's what makes it so subjective.

Jom 10-28-2005 04:23 PM

Oh boy, another argument in the thread, lolz. Haven't had one of these in awhile, fortunately, and for good reason.
Is vB code allowed on Sputnikmusic?
Yep, Sputnikmusic and MX are on the same server and all that, so they use the same vBulletin system; therefore, vB code is allowed. HTML, however, is not, as it doesn't recognize <b>bolded text</b>; rather, it will just come up as 'bolded text.'
