Then how is Crazy Horse rebelous. Plus Buffalo Springfield was a rebelous band; they were politically active. But they get put under The Beatles category. Plus if that were true, John Lennon would be put under the Rolling Stone category, which isn't right.
I was thinking that it was influence, but that would be knocked off due to the Bob Dylan placement. Then I figured it is genre; Beatles: Pop, Rolling Stones: Blues. But the Bob Dylan comment once again through that idea out.
Its hard to say what he ment because a lot of the names he mentioned could be put under the Beatles or the Rolling Stones depending on what part of their career your looking at. I mean I was only guessing with the whole rebellion thing. |
Very true, but I'm not a drum player so I can only tell by what I hear what is complex or not.
mitch is basically just doing whatever the hell he wants in that song. fills all over the place. the guitar is unbelievably easy for that song. edit: page 1200. yay. |

^Nice to see from you I thought you were gone for good for a min.

I've yet to figure out how exactly Neil Young could divide rock into a Beatles category and a Stones category. Does that book actually say his reasoning for this? I just don't see a very defined relation between the bands he put under the Beatles category and the bands he put under the Stones category.

What's the book called? |
u cant catagorise like that , its pathetic
if u were to it would be crap: britney spears ........ and great:led zep , beatles, bob dylan |
And yeah, classic rock is becoming extremely popular among teenagers.
indeed , im 13 , and led zep r my favourite band :thumb: |
I have actually thought of the same Beatles/Stones categorization. Keeping in mind that this is very vague, the Stones and the Beatles came around at about the same time and IMO split the rock genere in half. I am not sure exactly how, I wouldn't say the Stones were more rebellious per se, but their listeners were. The Stonsier bands tended to be bluesier as well too

"Red Telephone" is about racism?
Arther Lee was black...at the very end he says "I want my freedom" and then a distincly southern black voice says "All of god's childern got have them the freedom"....just a thought. Morning everyone, had a crazy night last night. Who did everyone vote for? |
Yeah. I had some trouble getting the chorus though. That's some odd stuff right there.
I saw a Jeff Healy CD at Best Buy yesterday and was instantly reminded of "Blind Mullet " |

Good for you man, yeah Classic rock isn't coming back at my school outside of those who want to look cool by wearing the Dark Side of the Moon shirts, and listen to Stairway to Heaven. Emo is huge at my school, |
Emo is hugely popular for some odd reason.

Here's somethin sorta new. What post classic rock era band do you guys think has been closest to recreating the the sound and the attitude of classic rock, without making it seem lame(jet)? Can be mainstreem or not. I'd say either GnR, Black Crowes, or maybe Oasis.

Got the Bob Dylan blues
And the Bob Dylan Shoes And my clothes and my hair’s in a mess But you know I just couldn’t care less Goin’ to write me a song Bout’ what’s right and what’s wrong Bout’ god and my god and all that Quiet while I make like a cat Chorus: Cause I’m a poet Don’t ya know it And the wind, you can blow it Cause I’m Mr. Dylan, the king And I’m free as a bird on the wing Roam from town to town Guess I get people down But I don’t care too much about that Cause my gut and my wallet are fat Make a whole lotta dough But I deserve it though I’ve got soul and a good heart of gold So I’ll sing about war in the cold Chorus Well I sings about dreams And I rhymes it with seems Cause it seems that my dream always means That I can prophesy all kinds of things Well the guy that digs me Should try hard to see That he buys all my discs and a hat And when I’m in town go see that Chorus (by Syd Barrett) What do you guys think about that for a Bob Dylan tribute song? |

You'd think he'd be a little more symbolic instead of basically saying "I like "Bob Dylan". |
Listening to Frampton's Do You Feel Like I Do makes me feel
lol... not only is that a great song to listen to but a great song to play on the guitar.. .so awesome frampton was awesome |

The Brian Jonestown Massacre does a great job of recreating the old Classic rock/psychedelic sounds. Though nobody has heard of them, or posts in my threads about them :upset: Though since original ideas were a big part of the Classic Rock sound recreating the classic rock sound would be going against what the classic rock sound really is. |

Classic rock beats out rap and all the swaring, drug, and sex talk in rap and hip hop. i am only 12, one of the few that like classic rock at my school. majority like Usher, Kayne West, and any other songs on the radio (Monkey say monkey do). Led Zeppelin, Hendrix Experience, and The Who are my favorites
