Great to hear.

g°®† 08-07-2006 02:50 PM

I'll still buy it but based off of that preview of that song they did in concert, it's likely going to suck some major donkey nut.

And just so you don't think I'm a Metallica hater;

Metallica is what got me into music and guitar.

Aw3someman 08-07-2006 02:55 PM

Well if they speed the song up, like double time. And James clones himself from the 1980's we'll have a kick *** album. So... Yeah it's gonna suck Donkey nuts. I'll retreat into the first five Metallica albums.

victim of changes 08-07-2006 03:22 PM

I think it will be the best since the black album.

g°®† 08-07-2006 03:42 PM

I actually liked Load alot ... Until It Sleeps, Hero of the Day, King Nothing, The Outlaw Torn, Mama Said ... I thought they were good songs (regardless that Metallica used to be one of the top rated metal bands)

St. Anger was bad. The lyrics were bad. The guitarwork was mediocre, and the drums, though fast, just sounded like poop. Not to mention that James' singing completely made that album 'unlistenable' to me.

Chu 08-07-2006 09:00 PM

I liked the guitar in St. Anger, the drums, well they were something new.. Bad, but they were new :)

Edit: As I've said before, I didn't really wanna hear Kirk wank off 10 more similar sounding wah solos, I would rather he just not solo at all.
If, as this new song suggests, Kirk will no longer use wah, I might enjoy it, for the Lead guitar alone. :D

g°®† 08-08-2006 03:37 PM

The lack of solos didn't really bother me. It would've been nice to hear a few (at least one) but whatever. I liked Wasting My Hate (from LOAD) which didn't have any solo and also For Whom the Bell Tolls (there's no defined solo in that song) but whatever.

I hope thats true. As much as I like his older solos, I think the change could be a good thing.

Jev 08-08-2006 06:39 PM

I doubt he'll be wahless. He's practically attached to that thing.

Thats true, but I hope its limited at least.

Hey man, I can have dreams, can't I?!
sadly he is i hope it'll be kick *** like ride the lightning old stuff and MoP
Well stop hoping. I can guarantee you it won't be. I'm hoping for at least another Load type album with a little more metalish roots.

MRDuCran 08-09-2006 03:05 PM

The new song sounds pretty much like Load to me, so maybe you'll get that.

At least, the vocals do in places.

2muchket! 08-09-2006 03:13 PM

I didn't like the new song personally

Huber 08-09-2006 03:18 PM

The vocals need to get reworked a bit. The parts where he kinda tried to hard and said like "It's the beginninnnnnggg!" need to be worked on. Other than that I think it's a cool song. The structure and instrumentation is especially great.

Yeah I don't really like that part either. I can't remember exactly which bit but there is a part I really like.

MRDuCran 08-10-2006 01:06 AM

I remember giving you guys a link to to Metallica tab book pdf's and someone asked for a bass version...who was it and what album did you want/need??

Prince Charming 08-10-2006 05:19 AM

Metallica- "Mitch Double Posts Fade To Black"
lolz

When does their new album come out? It'll be interesting to hear. I love their bassist live though, he's full of energy. He seems like a really nice guy as well.

Yeah...noone cares. :upset:

Jev 08-10-2006 02:16 PM

It comes out next Spring hopefully.

victim of changes 08-10-2006 04:08 PM

maybe summer/fall

HNLzero 08-10-2006 08:38 PM

If the band went in the studio and remastered and remixed ...And Justice for All so that the drums and guitar didin't overpower the bass, would you think it'd be worth listening to? (kind of like Nevermore's Enemies of Reality)

Yes. It's a solid album already, if it was made better it would be, well, better.

heavy metal kid 08-10-2006 10:33 PM

AJFA is worth of listen as it is right now, if they remaster it, it could probably become the best Metallica album.

Lunarfall 08-10-2006 11:26 PM

I never understood why people think AJFA is so good. It's the worst out of their first five...

KEA Is the worst
I never understood why people think AJFA is so good. It's the worst out of their first five...
In your opinion.

Chu 08-11-2006 05:18 AM

I listened to ...AJFA (The song) today, heh, I just love the build up to the first verse, and how aggressive James' voice is.

/Goes back to playing :)
I never understood why people think AJFA is so good.
The solos are good

Mikedrummer 08-11-2006 05:37 AM

Metallica's next album.. I think they would gain back about two thirds of the respect they lost when they sold out if it was as good as their 80's albums. It would be like a dream come true if it was their best so far. The new song seems to be in that vein, so we can at least hope.

Jev 08-11-2006 06:47 AM
I never understood why people think AJFA is so good. It's the worst out of their first five...
Ialways thought that too.

Not meaning their worst out of the first 5 isn't good.

Apocalyptic Raids 08-11-2006 07:03 AM

AJFA has too much filler.

Jev 08-11-2006 07:26 AM

And the good songs are too long.

Apocalyptic Raids 08-11-2006 07:32 AM

It's still better than RTL, though.

Chu 08-11-2006 08:23 AM
It's still better than RTL, though.
NO.

Nothing touches RTL :p

Apocalyptic Raids 08-11-2006 08:38 AM

I never really saw the big deal about RTL. I much prefer MOP.

pate 08-11-2006 11:08 AM
I never really saw the big deal about RTL. I much prefer MOP.
I'm exactly the other way around. In fact, I would call MOP the most overrated metal album evar.

Nepenthe 08-11-2006 11:09 AM

Yeah, MoP is way too... mechanical for my liking. I don't know, the music just sounds like it was written by robots. It goes beyond clockwork, and just lacks any sort of emotion for me.

Jaundice 08-11-2006 11:09 AM

I think they're both slightly over rated. Both have some very good songs, but I don't think they really deserve their untouchable status.
