ocdrumandbass 12-07-2004 06:49 AM

melbourne

probably emo stuff.

blizzard 12-07-2004 06:51 AM

i went to melbourne in the june july holidays, it was cold but not as cold as everyone told me it would be

ocdrumandbass 12-07-2004 06:54 AM

melbourne is a cool place. i grew up overseas, and it blows compared to melbourne.

anyway, by the end of this summer, i should have a new bass rig, and then melbourne will be REALLY cool.

blizzard 12-07-2004 06:55 AM

yeah, where abouts overseas did you come from?

ocdrumandbass 12-07-2004 07:00 AM

hong kong. im not chinese at all though, we moved there when i was 5, and i came back when i was 15... it got pretty boring towards the end of my stay.

blizzard 12-07-2004 07:02 AM

I bet you brought over a whole lot of pirated stuff with you as well

twopelu 12-07-2004 07:09 AM

Hi all.

Oh Im confused, Im going to sell my drums and receive some money for my old basses. And of course, Ill get some more money on Christmas. I have to spend it...in a bass.

I wanna upgrade my OLP. Maybe a SUB would be a good idea isnt? But G&L with two humbuckers seem really good...or Fender American P, or J, or aerodyne...mmm

Comments? (Maybe Ill open a thread about this)

blizzard 12-07-2004 07:10 AM

just try them all and buy hte one you find best

Mitchell Royce 12-07-2004 07:12 AM

The G&L Tribute series(I'm assuming that's what you're talking about) is great. The premium version only has a Korean made body but the exact same electronics which the american's have. So much better than a SUB and much more versatile as well. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

twopelu 12-07-2004 07:23 AM

thx, but Im interested on getting the MusicMan tone...would that bass give me waht I want?

Muadip 12-07-2004 07:23 AM

Hello :smoke:

blizzard 12-07-2004 07:24 AM

Goodnight MX (i leave just as everyone starts to come on)

Muadip 12-07-2004 07:31 AM

night night

Mitchell Royce 12-07-2004 07:32 AM

Twopelu, I think nothing can imitate a MM Stingray tone. I guess the G&L can come close but the pickup placement isn't quite the same and the pickups are different as well. I honestly didn't try out to get that tone, though. Once I get a G&L L2500 I'll get back to you about that(hopefully soon, I'm in the talks with a guy. I'm really hoping it works out). I'd recommend that you look into an Ibanez ATK though, they're probably the closest anyone has come to that Stingray tone. They were discontinued sometime in '99 but can be picked up for dirt cheap on ebay and in used gear stores. I'd shoot for an ATK300, very good stuff. Here's a pic:

Ah, and there's one on sale at BassNW: http://www.bassnw.com/Used%20Basses/ibanez_atk300sb_sunburst_4_st.htm

twopelu 12-07-2004 07:41 AM

MMm, I dont like Ibanez at all you know. It seems nice but...

Anyway the thing now is between SUB and Tribute. Dunno. What I exactly want it a powerfull tone, humbuker kind, with good bass and balanced. Good for slap. It would be similar to the MM but more verstile but the main thing is that it has to keep the growl, thats the main thing for me.

Thx Mitchel, you are really helpfull.

Twiggy_Skold 12-07-2004 07:41 AM

whats up with the santa hats?

morpcat 12-07-2004 07:45 AM

Put one on your Diablo ;)

Twiggy_Skold 12-07-2004 07:46 AM

can they be done on animated avatars?

Mitchell Royce 12-07-2004 07:52 AM

No problem twopelu, we euros gotta stick together. From the way you described the tone that you're looking for I'd honestly say that the Ibanez might really be a goood match for you. I've played that bass quite a bit and it has none of that typical Ibanez feel(you know, skinny neck, bland body and so on). See if you can at least find one to play, you might be surprised.
Of the two I would still pick the tribute.

JoeDaddio 12-07-2004 07:53 AM

Oh man.... I just woke up. Guess that means I passed out. Drank quite a bit. Head hurts.

joe

Muadip 12-07-2004 07:58 AM
