My e-friends are open-minded. My real friends, not so much, but to some extent. Then again, I don't consider myself the most open-minded person alive either.
|
My friends are about as narrow-minded as a ruler. They listen to mostly mainstream in all genres. Some might reach out to the extent of The Dead(WHOA).
Me, I am very open-minded. I listen from Metal to Blues to Funk to Jazz. |
my open mindedness only reaches to my musical tastes.
|
I have one friend who loves all types of classic rock, but he doesn't like any of the more obscure things I do or any metal accept Sabbath and a few Metallica songs.
Though he at least listens to things before making an opinion. I tried to turn him onto rap with Jurassic 5, but no luck :( |
My friends are probablly more open minded than others I mean I got ALL of my friends listining to American Beauty and loving it and many others.
|
I don't generally try to force my friends to listen to my music though, because I don't really care. They know what I listen to, if they're ever interested they can tell me. I play my stuff in my car when I drive them, but that's about it.
|
All my friends follow my musical tastes. It's weird I have like a music cult what ever I'm into they quickly follow.
|
Some of my friends can be pretty open minded. A lot of my friends listen to most hard/classic rock, AC/DC, Zeppelin, Alice Cooper, Deep Purple, The Who, stuff like that, so I can listen to most of that. One of my friends, Erin, we always trade music. We both like classic rock, and she gets me into some of the more indie/punk stuff she likes, and I get her into jazz and whatever I like that the time. Another of my friends, Shane, likes more hip-hop, but if I get him to listen to mellow rock like Jack Johnson, he'll like it.
|
I don't care what my friends listen to. I just hate when they start making fun of something after the first note is played.
|
My friends NEVER introduce me to new music. :upset:

That-a-boy. :thumb: My friends don't introduce me to anything either. I was talking with my dad today and he told me about the Dead Head society type thing. He said they would send him Blues For Allah, Europe '72 and Skeletons From The Closet and see how he liked it. I also talked with my uncle, he has over 1,000 minutes of live Grateful Dead bootleg :| I want to change my usertitle, but what I have is too long, anybody know how to make a long one? jpj... ;) |

|
off topic- YAY! :D my first post! ok...
I'm 13 and my friends and I are gonna start a band and i'm the drummer. So what kind of music should we play? What are some good songs or bands to play from? I guess being that this is a classic rock topic, i'm sure you guys have some good suggestions. |
yummy ramen wish i could help you more on this band thing but in my experiences in my bands that i've been in, classic rock is pretty hard to play just because it is. unless you and you're friends are pretty good at what you play already i'd come up with your own stuff because then you might find what style you guys can play together...or you could choose the safe route and try some Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit
i haven't checked through all 1596 pages of this thread so this might have already been brought up...but the redwalls are a pretty good band in my opinion and they definately could be considered classic rock even though they just started getting media attention and just put out their second album this year...check em out...build a bridge is my personal favorite song by the redwalls |
"Smells Like Teen Spirit"?!!?! You're sick you know that.
Play "Intersteller Overdrive". :thumb: I'm downloading the original stolen "Dazed and Confused" by the Yardbirds. I''ll let you guys know if it's any good. Took me forever to find it. I don't know what draws me to this recording because it's basically the beginning of a band I hate and a Zep fan would kill for it but I can't help but look into it. |
My friends (except for one) have no understanding nor appriciation for Classic Rock, but then again she dosen't play an instrument. None of them do really, except for flute and various other band instruments from 8th grade band. I ususally just hang out with whatever group of hippies is in my study hall at the time. Naturally this gathers strange looks from my freinds, which is just wonderful
|
That's because hippies are cool.

Truth. My friends mostly have pretty good tastes. Not great, but better than a lot of other people. |
I only have one friend that actually likes all the music I like. Every now and then I give him an update of all the new music I've gotten.

It's mostly indie, but you can see that I like tons of different genres. |
ok ok, i admit it, i'm a classic rock nut. i love led zeppelin, the beatles, the who, eric clapton, the doors, and so on. most of the bands i listen to broke up years before i was born. at 17, nearly every song on my playlist is older than me. but is it just my imagination, or is classic rock experiencing sort of a revival. i am running into an increasing number of classic rock fans my age. at my school (an all boys high school), the school newspaper took a poll of everyone's favorite genre and band. led zeppeling got 5th and the beatles got 6th, behind that rap crap. classic rock made up a large percent of ppls favorite genre. is this just by me, or are other ppl noticing this too?
This is the thread for general classic rock discussion.
Hey,Your not alone,i LOVE classic rock!!! AC/DC is my FAV!!! |

No worries, man. Welcome to the forums. Just try and respond to something in rescent conversation :) |
lol,okay.
|
you want to check out a really classic rock band, you should go to your local pawn shop or underground music store and try to find the 80's band nitro. lol good guitar work but i'm not so sure on the vocals.
|
I play guitar.
|
i play guitar, bass, and keyboard. ill start on drums when i have enough spare time. im best at guitar. what classic rock music do you play? i mostly play ac/dc just for the fact all of their music is easy.
|
I play AC/DC too!! i'm obbessed with them ;)
|
Classic rock has to be my favourite genre! The Zeppelin...Pink Floyd, Rush!
I'm a drummer/song writer/learning guitar... and the style I like to play most is just the classic rock sound. My favourite is probably Rush though... after trying to drum to that stuff... you put them in a whole new light :thumb: |
I hate today's music...especially punk..UGH!!!!
