How's Jamey this morning?
And also, I'm writing an essay on Janis Joplin. I was thinking of the title: Janis Joplin: Dead, But Innovative Yeah? No? |
tired brother. you?
tired brother. you?
Extremely tired. This essay has been kicking my ***. It's my fault for procrastinating, though. **sigh** I'm almost finished with it, though, which is a very good feeling, but I slept all of 2 hours and I don't get to sleep again for another 12. I'm dyin' man. Bleeeh. |
I don't have work today because of Canada Day. Sweet. I'll be doing some recording, though. That's way tougher than work.

I'm working right now. but I'm taking tomorrow off to drive to vancouver, so it balances it. |
happy canada day.

I know. My Tech at work suggested it. I told him it was terrible. But I like it too. I think instead I'll go with: Janis Joplin: Voice of a Gender, Voice of a Generation |
how about:
Janis Joplin: attention whore makes good, dies quickly, not too many high points in career. |
$728.99 later, I've ordered a Sansamp RBI and the SX2800 (a little more powerful to match my cabs' handling, and it's a B-stock so it's $50 less than the SX2400 I wanted originally).
Now I just need the crossover and I'll be set. I currently have 5 of 6 spaces being utilized in my rack...should I upgrade to an 8-space for the sake of air flow around the amp?
No. Unless space for transporting is no issue for you. Or the cooling fans are mounted on the top. Which they probably aren't. Amps get hot. Plus the danger with racks, is empty spaces don't stay empty for long - they just become spaces you always try to justify filling with stuff you don't need ^_^ |

The vents and fan are in the front and back (on my Carvin, the fan is on the back, but the vents are on the side (wtf?). Not optimal for a rack IMO. I have 3 spaces worth of vented spacers, one of which I am going to put a couple small CPU fans in, just to keep airflow at its max. Aside from my compressor, I don't have anything else that's rackmountable that I'd want in my rack (I'm even wanting to move the compressor over to the PA rack). |
Horses for courses I guess. I like to keep my rack as small as possible so it doesn't become too heavy and cumbersome. But I'm only running a 3u. Might upgrade to a 4u.

You probably get most of your tone from all the effects that you use. Somewhere on my to-do list is to buy a pedal board so I can step it up in my effects dept (new batteries are costing me a fortune). Then again, I don't use many effects in my band anyways because fighting over two guitarists doesn't leave me much room in the mix for effects unless I get some bass specific parts.
Anybody here the vocalist and bassist, by chance? If so, how's that working out for you? I'm afraid my basslines will be crap live if I have to play them while singing. |
Don't really on effects for tone.
|
Anybody here the vocalist and bassist, by chance? If so, how's that working out for you? "We can do it softcore if we want, but you should know I take it both ways."
Such a great bass line :) PS: This is a test. slightly confuzzled sea lion PPS: Fukcin cool! |

1982 Musician Volume/Blend/Tone 3 Band active w/ switch and P/J setup. And fretless. Much love. |
what kind of ibanez is that?
It's a 70s or 80s Ibanez Musician I think. |
beaten. But good guess!
|
Haha I can't believe I was too lazy to check if you'd pipped me at the post. Couldn't even be bothered to scroll up that little bit.
|
Either way, it's a helluva nice bass. 800AUS, even if it was mediocre I wouldn't complain.
|
It does look nice. Fretless too?
I think you'd complain if you paid $800 for a shite bass haha. |
It does look nice. Fretless too?

The most I've spent on a bass is like AUD$1200, I think spending any more than that is going far beyond necessity and into bells and whistles territory. Of course that's lot of fun if someone can afford it but I can't.

I don't think I've paid more than that. 800 for the musician, 700 for the curbow, 400 for my first bass, 400 for my custom jazz (which evidently is a 70's era japanese bass) and 200 for my **** jazz i **** around on. |

It all depends on what you want. Finding an unpaired 8-string with a 35" scale, birdseye maple fretboard, Phi inlay, greenburst on quilted maple, and all gold hardware isn't common. Then again, aside from the slight neck dive (whenever I can get around to replacing the tuners with the Hipshot Ultralites), my $500 Schecter Studio 6 has to be my favorite bass and, if it wasn't out of commission, would currently be my go-to bass for recordings. |
Yeah bells and whistles territory was more or less founded as a home for 8 string basses with such appointments :p.
Nothing wrong with it of course. |
hey all, what's up?

What do you want for it? hit me up: bassplayer420 at cheatcc dot com
It's an 8 space Road Ready (the deepest version), and i'd have tot think about price. |
Aren't their deepest like 30" or something absurd? None of my rack gear is any larger than 19" (although I'll have to wait for the new amp to come in to verify), so I'd be looking for just the 20" case. |

I rely on my Cream Pie pedal quite a lot for my dual amp setup though. I always found singing and playing bass was something I had to sit down and work out. I could play really complex things, as long as I sat down with the lyrics, and a bass, and wrote notes all over the lyrics about what notes match up with what syllables etc. So you're not doing two different things anymore, you're doing two things in conjunction with each other, if that makes sense. Like tying your shoelaces - both hands work together, not against each other. |

Consider away. Keep in mind that there may be some additional customs charges that will have to be paid. Damn international shipping. |
New Hearth and Salamander song recorded. Well, instrumentally. The vocals still need to be added. We're beginning our search soon for other real musicians.
