[Lookin' for a reply from Bartender] What's the best Aereogramme record?

Bartender 03-13-2006 12:34 PM

I only have A Story in White, though I can wholeheartedly recommend that. I keep meaning to pick up Sleep and Release and Seclusion (especially Seclusion), but I never seem to get around to it.

Seclusion's a mini-album/EP, I think, and I know Nacho at least really likes it.

3rdplanet 03-13-2006 01:14 PM

Yah I have 'A Story in White' and it is utter pr0nage, I think it was uploaded by yourself in one of the old YSI threads. I wanted to get a different record of theirs but 'Seclusion' is like £9.99 and it doesn't have that much material on...hum, maybe I shoulda bought it anyway.

Ah well, may pick just pick a CD of theirs up at random.

Bartender 03-13-2006 02:25 PM

£8.99 on Amazon at the moment, but I'm sure I've seen it cheaper - Amazon's prices fluctuate quite a lot. Keep an eye on it, I suppose.

Thanks for reminding me about them, anyway.

superflyjojo 03-13-2006 02:40 PM

Can someone recommend me some symphony X, I own DWOT but I don't know where to go from there.

But then they bum you with delivery costs.

Do you like Oceansize? I thought I would recommend them after Amazon did a 'If you like A, you'll like B' on me. They use some really angular riffs, 'A Homage to Shame' would be a good tune to check out.

Bit of an odd way to use this thread, offer a recommendation without being asked first :amaze: .

Bartender 03-13-2006 03:47 PM

True, but if you can bump the total price of the order over £15, you can choose a free delivery option.

I've not heard Oceansize, but I've also had them recommended to me (Effloresce, I think). Just never paid attention so far. I'll see if I can get a soundclip of that song on Amazon.

3rdplanet 03-13-2006 04:03 PM

I have no trouble bumping an order about £15, it's the paying for it I can't do :p .

I would send that track to you but my PC had to be formatted and all my music was lost; if I buy the record (may go to HMV tomorrow), I can send some stuff then.

I'm a big fan of Crowbar and Eyehategod. Anyone have any suggestions for some more sludge bands?

gillygan 03-14-2006 10:08 AM

Sludge: Isis, Pelican, Nuerosis. Isis is some brutal weird sludge, Pelican is well, Freekin amazing. Be sure to get The Fire in our Throats Will Beckon the Thaw. And I've heard a little Nuerosis. Weird crazy sludge.

Red Sparowes...the best choice.

GenuineImitation 03-14-2006 05:54 PM

Can some recommend me some prog rock bands like Porcupine Tree and some Emo bands. Not bands like MCR or The Used, but actual Emo bands.

repcak 03-14-2006 06:01 PM

hm... try Wishbone Ash - Time Was, its a great rock album and i even think you can call them progressive. the album is old.. (80s?) but its one of my favourites... great music!!

A Perfect Circle - 13th step... progressive and sad/ a little depressive

GenuineImitation 03-14-2006 06:03 PM

I'll try the Wishbone Ash. APC is ok, but I never really considered them prog before.

Possibly Soilent Green, if you dont mind the fact they are as much death/grind as they are sludge.

circlethedrain 03-19-2006 09:45 PM

I was looking for a new band to get into that had a female leadsinger in the rock or metal genre preferably. I've already listened to Lacuna Coil, Evanescence, and Night wish, but i really want to get into a new band.

thx
