do whatever you want, as long as it's not ruining the thread. OKAY?

CombatRock 07-05-2005 12:24 AM

the thread is going good right now.

Coma_Girl 07-05-2005 12:29 AM

this is not what i call good.

so anyway, Love Kills is a great song. I don't know if you guys have heard it. It's at the end of Sid & nancy.

CombatRock 07-05-2005 12:33 AM

who is it by?

Coma_Girl 07-05-2005 12:36 AM

not the ramones one, the Joe Strummer one. It's easy...the good one. Different songs.

CombatRock 07-05-2005 12:42 AM

i dont know what you talking about? who is love kills by?

Jessizzle 07-05-2005 08:05 AM

I hate the song Love Kills, I did it for FL.

slartibartfast 07-05-2005 10:43 AM

Hmm, a lot of you made fun of Bono earlier. But shortly before Joe's death he was working with Bono on a song for a Nelson Mandela-campaign against AIDS in Africa. The song they co-wrote was called "46664", but as far as I know it has never been released anything from it. Joe had been scheduled to play a fundraising concert on Robben Island in February 2003.

Sure, you can't compare Bono with Joe but I don't think Joe would have liked seeing what you wrote about Bono. I think Bono deserves some kind of respect. He has often honoured Joe as one of the world's greatest ever. And, according to Bono himself, if he wouldn't have seen The Clash as a 17-year-old in Dublin, he probably wouldn't have been doing music. And if you've seen pictures from Clash-shows, you have probably seen that they often used pictures of riots and wars and such - which U2 are, according to themself, very inspired by (and used on their concerts too).

Hmm, maybe this wasn't interesting at all but I didn't know what to write.

sketchyjoe 07-05-2005 10:44 AM

It's says a lot about Bono that his name is an anagram of nobo.

slartibartfast 07-05-2005 11:27 AM

Coma_Girl (or Andy?)-> Why don't you make a list, and then can I put together all lists.

guns_of_brixton 07-05-2005 02:00 PM

"The Clash was what U2 wishes they could be." -Henry Rollins

Coma_Girl 07-05-2005 04:18 PM

Everybody knows I love Joe and everything he did. I have a LOT of respect for him...Okay, maybe he thought Bono was cool. But my love for Joe Strummer has a limit. Yeah, you heard me. Bono sucks no matter how much Joe and him worked together. Yeah, Bono said that without The Clash..blah blah blah blah. But he said the same about The Ramones when Johnny Ramone died. Maybe he's just trying to sound cool and punk rock?
And when you think about it, I'm sure there's a lot of bands (and better bands) who can say that without The Clash, they wouldn't exist. A lot of bands give to charity too. But they don't want to impress people with it.
Bono thinks that talking about justice and charity when you travel in a private jet is cool...

"I don't think Joe would have liked seeing what you wrote about Bono"
I don't think Jow would have liked seeing what we wrote about him in this thread. Too much attention and admiration and respect. He was too humble to accept it.

"And, according to Bono himself, if he wouldn't have seen The Clash as a 17-year-old in Dublin, he probably wouldn't have been doing music."
****...why did he see the clash?WHY??

Silvermedalmafia 07-05-2005 04:25 PM

Bono sucks, as does U2. Think about the new song vertigo, one, two, three, fourteen?

Aeaon 07-05-2005 04:28 PM

They're old stuff is good, but I strongly dislike their newer material.

Clashed 07-05-2005 04:32 PM

Concurd'.

Their old stuff was better. New, not as good.

Aeaon 07-05-2005 04:46 PM

Agreed.

slartibartfast 07-05-2005 04:58 PM

Okay Coma_Girl. I respect your opinions, and guess I share them quite a lot actually. Hmm, let's leave Bono and U2 now and focus on Joe and Clash. Have your view of Joe/Clash changed after listening to him/them so much for the last months, if so: how?

Coma_Girl 07-05-2005 09:00 PM

I just heard this girl on musique plus talking about mick jones. She said something like "And [I forgot the name but it was a crappy female rapper] worked with Mike Jones for her new album. Not Mick Jones, but Mike Jones."

im going to do the list tonight.

CombatRock 07-05-2005 10:49 PM
"The Clash was what U2 wishes they could be." -Henry Rollins
i give HR allot of respect for that. and bono is stupid, im not going to give him respect just cos he liked the clash.

Glitterati 07-06-2005 01:09 AM

U2 had some amazing ballads back in the '80s. They started to decline in the '90s...now they just suck.

CombatRock 07-06-2005 01:44 AM

im preety sure they always sucked. but this isnt a u2 discussion thread.

/thank god.

guns_of_brixton 07-06-2005 09:51 AM

CombatRock 07-06-2005 02:14 PM

Coma_Girl 07-06-2005 05:52 PM
Andy did you like Junco Partner?
not really. there's an annoying little noise. but I'll listen to it a couple more times, maybe I'll get used to it, it's different. Is it on an album?

Anyway, Joe Strummer had impressive story-telling abilities.

CombatRock 07-06-2005 05:55 PM

its on Sandinisita, i wish Joe would have done a (old timey) country cd, since he was a good story teller.

guns_of_brixton 07-06-2005 06:07 PM

Yea, I don't have WinZip so I can't send a full album :(.

I wish the Clash or Joe would've done some country stuff, too, like Lonesome Me.

CombatRock 07-06-2005 06:13 PM

like johnny cash and hank williams country no toby keith, i hate toby keith.

CombatRock 07-07-2005 01:04 PM

Coma_Girl 07-07-2005 01:30 PM

Forest_Fire 07-08-2005 12:19 PM

Is it just me, or is Kola Kola an awesome song?

Daniel! 07-08-2005 01:36 PM

No, it's awsome.

Glitterati 07-10-2005 01:48 AM

Koka Kola is great.

This discussion is getting a little pointless :\

Daniel! 07-10-2005 12:45 PM

Who's seen the documentary Westway to the World? Cool movie. Very insightful.

CombatRock 07-11-2005 04:33 PM
