Oh silly Opeth, why now do you announce you're playing at Rock City (my local gig venue) in November when I already bought tickets to the London gig in september.

Now ill just have to see them twice in a year :)
Nice choice. That song is so deep and well thought out, so much power and transition...I definately want it played at my funeral.
I showed that song to my friend yesterday as we were going to a munchy run after smoking a few bowls. He loved it.He said it was perfect stoned music.

bucket 08-11-2005 10:06 PM

Does anybody have an Opeth shirt that JUST has the logo? I've looked around and can't find any. Well not exactly. On blastwaves (maybe?) there is a couple shirts that are just what I'm looking for, but they say "Opeth Logo shirt- GIRLY". Wtf is up.

All I want is a nice plain Opeth shirt that's not made for a woman :upset:

I've seen a polo and workout shirt, but those just have the O.

relliK 08-11-2005 10:13 PM

^Me too.All I see are album cover shirts.I just want the logo.I saw a pic of Mikael wearing one.

PeEpHoLe_10 08-11-2005 10:17 PM

Really? That would be great for me, except I can't find anything like that. Did you see that on a website? I know it couldn't have been blastwaves, I only saw album cover shirts there.

There's the O

Hells Bells 08-11-2005 10:46 PM

Yes! I found it :D
It's too bad that's going to end up being like $40 cdn with the shipping and everything. It's still not that bad though, and it was exactly what I was looking for.
Thanks bucket :thumb:

Yeah, I saw the ones with the O, but it's on a polo or a workshirt.
Just that at the moment, i will try their other songs. I dont like the guys voice when it becomes that hoarse style, its a shame cause he is a very talented singer, but im sure they will grow on me considering so many people like them. I will certainly listen to them more.
Im a tad confused.
You say you don't like Akerfeldt's "hoarse" voice yet you love the first 7 minutes of The Leper Affinity. Which incidentally features some of his best ever growls....

You have to let harsh vocals grow on you. I couldn't stand them either the first time I heard them, but you really get to appreciate it after a while.
Not arguing with you (imm actually glad to get some advice, not many other people seem to wanna give it out), but why do you think there isnt alot of substance to be had with the story?

Also, i just finished the lyrics for the first song if your interested in looking.

http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showthread.php?p=9127403#post9127403
Those are really good lyrics, though I don't know how you would make 10 or so songs out of the story.

musicnerd 08-12-2005 01:07 PM

Can anyone explain Deliverance to me? It seems to be about a guy who's controlled by the devil and drowns a lady...and then realizes what he's done. Is there more to it than that? Thanks. peace.

Darkness 08-12-2005 01:14 PM

There is a bit more to it, I'm currently working on it. I believe Damnation is linked also.

guitarist.kid 08-12-2005 06:28 PM

I want to discover Opeth and I want to download some songs. I know thats bad but wich song do you advice to me to discover them?

Dannyboy15 08-12-2005 06:33 PM

Bleak, Blackwater Park, Godheads Lament, Masters Apprentice.

Darkness 08-12-2005 06:34 PM

The Leper Affinity, The Moor, Face Of Melinda, The Drapery Falls, Windowpane, Masters Apprentices and Demon of The Fall.

Deth 08-12-2005 07:16 PM

All of the above.

Adam Jones is GOD 08-12-2005 07:31 PM
All of the above.
Plus more. :)

Im falling too far in love with the clean sections in The Night And The Silent Water recently. Im glad Morningrise is opening up to me

Deth 08-12-2005 07:38 PM

Yeah, it's a fantastic song.

The verse:
You sleep in the light
Yet the night and the silent water
Still so dark...
gets me everytime.

Adam Jones is GOD 08-12-2005 07:41 PM

Agreed, when he whispers in any song on that album, it just has the shiver-down-spine effect.

Black Rose...Immortal.

/goosebumps

Shadows 08-12-2005 07:41 PM

Why does nearly every member of the band say The Night and the Silent Water is their least favorite song?

Darkness 08-12-2005 08:07 PM

Only Mike and Peter do, simply because something happpened to Mike when he was writing it, (I beleive a family member died) and he claims that he doesn't like the way its written.

Deth 08-12-2005 08:15 PM

I think it was about his Grandfather.

The song's incredible no matter what the subject matter is though.

The Cynic 08-12-2005 09:33 PM

Do they tune un Drop D now? I wanted to learn Baying Of The Hounds the other day, but the only way i could was in Drop D.

Darkness 08-12-2005 09:49 PM

Yeah, they seem to be messing with tunings a little more now.

Shadows 08-12-2005 09:51 PM

I always thought they played in Standard. I sure hope they don't go down to D now. I was planning on learning Beneath the Mire.

Darkness 08-12-2005 10:40 PM

Blackwater Park was in drop D... and whats wrong with drop D? Its not that hard to tune down to at all.

PeEpHoLe_10 08-12-2005 10:51 PM
Those are really good lyrics, though I don't know how you would make 10 or so songs out of the story.
Thanks, Im glad you liked those lyrics. I havent had time to write more because i have stupid exams to study for. Well, yeah it will be kinda hard to make 10 songs. I will just have go into lots of detail in each song, or just write less songs.

Shadows 08-13-2005 08:26 PM
Blackwater Park was in drop D... and whats wrong with drop D? Its not that hard to tune down to at all.
I know, I was just hoping that for once I'd be able to learn a song I like without having to mess with tuning.

Are you talking about the album? There is no connecting story between the songs; it isn't a concept album. MAYH and Still Life are the only concept albums Opeth have done (unless Ghost Reveries is one, but I wouldn't know yet).

The lyrics are about Mikael's grandfather's death, so I'd imagine bad times are associated with that song. I'm sure you've all got albums that are connected with happy memories, sad ones, whatever.

From what I've heard from Ghost Reveries, It might be.

All the Opeth shirts/hoodies online are XL and XXL. I need mediums or smalls, 'cause I'm a little person :upset:

Anyone have links to some in my size?

Blanka Flip 08-14-2005 01:47 PM

Does anyone know the details of the video that's floating around? I'm watching it...Wandering where, when, and so on...

Is it overseas? It sounded like he was speaking forign-

Killtacular 08-14-2005 07:46 PM

Ghost Reveries is a concept album. All the songs feature music and lyrics inspired by occult themes. It doesn't have to have a storyline to be a concept album.
