I saw the Blood Brothers and Daughters last night. It rocked. Hard.
And Buddy, Daughters = :TORNADO OF GAY:
Yeah, pretty much. |
All the stuff I've heard isn't grind. Maybe it's from the new CD, but the song that comes to mind ("Untitled") was relatively slow with weird, spacy riffs and slow vocals with the occasional frantic scream.
Yeah, pretty much.
 |
Yeah, pretty much.
i'm going to agree with you on that one. |
*explodes*
wuzzuh? Have you heard The Beautiful Sounds Of...? If you're making that determination based on s/t, I've only heard one or two songs from that, so it would make sense.
Have you? Metal-influenced hardcore. |
I've said this a ba-jillion times.
As The Sun Sets >>>> Daughters |
So I got into a little debate with my friend. We've been looking to jam for a while now, and he has somehow fixed his sights on creating a grindcore band. Well, the first thing he did that made me mad was when I tried to explain to him how much work and technicality it takes to make grind. He ignored me basically and gave the "it's just randomly hitting the guitar, there's no skill involved." This then turned into a debate in which he claimed that grindcore is artsy (the bands that most frequently came up in the discussion were The Locust and The Tony Danza Tap Dance Extravaganza, I don't know what sub genre of grind they fall under). He claims that it's looking into the mind of an insane person and that he doesn't think any sane person would go out on stage and play grind. I tried arguing that grind has very little to do with art and that it's usually blasts of noise and incoherent lyrics. The debate went on for a bit more and never really came to a conclusion. So I thought I'd bring up the question in here, is grind artsy?
|
Its artsy, the stuff you listed. But it requires a lot of skill to play grind.
And he must have been talking about Anal Cunt... |

Well that's the new album. Every song on it is Untitled. |
Grind is brutal, not artsy. Agoraphobic Nosebleed will back me up.

Oh, haha. |
Have you?
Metal-influenced hardcore.
From the man that throws Indian Summer in the same boat as Cro-Mags. |
Ok fine then, they're not grind. God you guyz r so ghey.
|
i finally listened to the Hope Conspiracy and wow, i'm really liking this. the song i have doesn't sound like it has the same vocalist as Bars though
|
I thought you said Bars had Hopesfall's vocalist?
|
a few posts later i said i meant the hope conspiracy.
|
Oh, alright.
Converge only has one guitarist now, right? |
Yup, ever since 2001. Aaron left and now plays full time in Bane.
And speaking of Bane, their new cd is going to be call "The Note". |
Strung Out show, right? I don't know if you'll like Haste the Day, they're kind of an oddball on that tour. Metalcore with really poppy/rocky melodic parts. I like 'em, but I don't know what your tastes are like. If you like Strung Out, you'll probably really like Only Crime. Melodic punk a la Rise Against, Strung Out, blah blah blah. Aaron from Bane/Converge is in it, and there's a couple other guys in it from equally notable bands I'm forgetting.
Cool, sounds fun, A Wilhelm Scream is also playing, I am so excited to see them. |

Yup, ever since 2001. Aaron left and now plays full time in Bane.

Over dubing.
|
Live, I mean.
|
Oh, hmm I donno. I dont' think it plays that big of a factor. I should have payed more attention to Kurt when I saw them.
|
Did they play stuff from Jane Doe?
|
Yay I get to see Another Breath in 2 weeks :)
|
Did they play stuff from Jane Doe?
Yeah, all I can remember off the top of my head from Jane Doe is Concubine and The Broken Vow.
|
im downloading whatever you have now. what was their later stuff like?
It got just not good, more of a nu-metally sound.
|
Yup, ever since 2001. Aaron left and now plays full time in Bane.
